This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
http://news.sky.com/story/1153336/re...up-uk-families
What is the Red Cross all about feeding the poor in third world countries, NOW we find that they will be feeding families in the UNITED KINGDOM. The below poverty line in the UK are to be given food by the Red Cross. What the hell is this government allowing this to happen, we must have plenty of food going about, BUT families are depending on food banks and NOW the Red Cross. As they cannot live. Cameron and Clegg should be totally ashamed of themself. They are pouring billions of pounds in overseas aid, wasting money on the HS2 and yet allowing there own people depend on charities to survive. |

Arthur, take a pill mate. We all know just how much you hate the Tories. Remember this tho, labor dropped the UK from a great height into the pile of dog do do that the Tories are slowly digging us out of, while it's a sad fact that people in this country are having to rely on food banks, red cross etc more and more it didn't start with the current government and until you realise that you'll keep venting, raising that blood pressure of yours until your veins pop.

Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Since the Tories came into power, they have brought terrible hardship on various parts of this country.
I don't give a damn of people say about me having a dig at the Tories - this is NOT a third world country, where those countries depend on the Red Cross for food. During the war our troops depended on this supply. Cameron and Clegg boast that they will continue to send billions of pounds to countries that dont need this AID Yet, the people in this country cannot afford food to live and depend on food banks and now commit shoplifting to feed there familes. This should not happen here, its NOT Labour fault, its the coalition that has brought in the Bedroom Tax, Even l have to downsize and l have a job. I cannot pay bills myself and have to ecomise to save money. It should NOT happen in this country for the Red Cross to feed the poor. The next thing we will have is the Sally Army on street coorners with food trolleys. When l was a young kid, l depended on jumble sales and free food given out by shops and going down the market on a Saturday night picking up scraps of food and meat to survive. This is 2013, when food is plentiful, and yet we have families depending on charites - IT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
The Red Cross are NOT supplying the food. All they are planning to do is set up some collection points for foodbanks, which were started in this country about 10 years ago ie under LABOUR.

I'm sure when people start dying, and people start fighting.
David will do something. We could always apply to America for humanitarian aid. When David ignores it all. ---------- Post added at 22:09 ---------- Previous post was at 22:07 ---------- Quote:

what makes you think this is a third world country? please explain this to me without using the words Tory or Cameron or Clegg or coalition. (add Maggie into that as well) Have you been shopping lately? Have you seen the cost of staple items on the shelves of the big 4 supermarkets? do you think that the upsurge in prices is down to the current government or do you think that prices are artificially inflated to boost profits for shareholder's. What happened when you was a kid growing up has no relevance to your or others positions today. You really do feel hard done by don't you? We found out on Tuesday that our income will be dropping significantly due to my wife being made redundant. You won't hear me banging on about it, blaming others for our shortfalls. If thing are tight, which I'm sure they will be we will make cutbacks, sky/vm will go, phones, broadband and anything else that could be classed as a luxury. You say that you can't pay your bills and have to economise, yet from what i can see you don't seem to be struggling that much, you have not long brought a car, your broadband seems to be working well and yet you can't pay your bills? Well my friend its all about prioritising and you doing seem to be able to do it that well. You seem to be happy blaming everyone else for issues that arise in your household instead of taking stock and putting your own house in order. Whilst I personally know many people who are struggling financially and read about many others online and in newspapers etc, you are by far the grumpiest old git I have ever come across. My wife and kids calk me a grumpy old man, but by Christ if they knew you I would be on the same level calmness as the Pope. |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Arthur's always as long on ill-informed rhetoric as he is short on facts and answers so I prescribe a couple of these to be taken as and when required:
:banghead: You'll have more chance of a meaningful debate with a wall and feel better afterwards too... :D |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Yes, I haven't seen much evidence of people starving personally in Stevenage. But hey, Arthur never lets facts get in the way of Tory and Coalition bashing.

This is what is at that heart of all the, mostly tripe, posts that Arthur makes on a daily basis. The refusal to acknowledge that Labour took a prosperous economy and over 10 years damn near killed it, so much so that we've been performing CPR on it the last three years and only now has it started breathing for itself. Hopefully, those that have been suckling the teet of the state aren't numerous enough to get Labour back in again. |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
labour, Conservative, lib Dems, UKIP, they all pee in the same pot, there's no difference, just wear different badges, all liar & rip off merchants,
|
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
I reckon that if in the next 18 months we get some decent recovery in the economy that Cameron could get an overall majority. Think that will be the only thing that can stop Labour getting back in again.
We DO NOT need or want a return to the borrow spend and debt cycle that Brown and Darling left Cameron and Clegg to sort out. |

I predict Labour will not deliver on their promises and unlike 1997, they won't have nearly 2 decades of 'Tory mistakes' to cite as excuses for their failures. If the economy is still improving at that point, they'll have nowhere to hide when it all starts to unravel as their 'policies' are exposed. |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Why, why is everyone blaming Labour for the crap that we are in. Who is suffering most out of all this - the unemployed, the people that are on benefit through no fault of their own - people such as those who cannot work who are ill.
We now have food banks which are being used more and more, and now we have the Red Cross getting involved. This is people that cannot afford the bare essentials, utility bills are going up and no one is stopping that are they. Sometimes the members on this forum really get on my wick for supporting a government that rather than look after its own people, it would rather send billions of pounds to overseas countries. I am suffering - l have a job, but have been told to downsize. I can no longer to go out due to the expense - its the fault of the present government for not looking after the voter. |

Also - just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they support the current government. It means they don't agree with you - quite simple. |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Why are we blaming Labour? Well quite simple really.
1. Labour allowed all and bloody sundry to claim benefits with no incentive to get OFF the dole into work. Hence why Cameron is seen to be hitting the poor is because he is trying to get those who are happy to sit on their backsides into work. 2. Tories never went into a borrow and spend cycle like Brown and Darling did. Which is why Labour INHERITED a good economy. Coalition inherit a crap economy. There are loads more reasons, but to be quite honest I am heartily sick and tired of the Coalition being bashed for the way they are trying to get us out of the mire we were in, done by a LABOUR government. Whose Chancellor was it that sold our gold reserves? Thatcher, Major? No, it was Blair's Chancellor who sold them all off. Had he waited another 10 years, we would have had an asset to sell to cut down our deficit. Until you accept that the Coalition are trying to rescue us from bankruptcy and having to go cap in hand to Germany, then the more you are going to be riducled. |

Gotta love the UK don't address the issue apportion blame job done for once Arthur has a point we shouldn't be in this position and i really don't care whose watch it started under it is happening. This is why we whinge like hell but never do anything about it because we allow politicians to set us at each other rather then demanding more of them and holding them to account for their constant failures and still buy the rubbish that our next vote can do a thing. I don't even believe in any of the political party's anymore because it doesn't matter they are all filled with plastic generic hot air blowers none of whom care or give a damn about us.

The sad fact is that Arthur is a full blown troll who will post his rubbish and then run. He NEVER responds when someone comes along with facts that show he has posted bull excreta. He rants on and on about any tiny bit of info he can find that will allow him to have a good old Tory rant, He seems to have done every job he ever rants about. He never admits that we are in the crap we are in because of his beloved Labour. He really does fit the typical forum troll. I will now sit back and await my infractions for telling it as it is and the expected accusation that i am bullying him again . |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Arthur, it's that bad now that a lot of people who are getting this food. are giving back the stuff that needs cooking. because they can't afford the gas or electricity to cook it with.

Have you ever heard reported the term lots instead of some?
some people have found work. not lots of people have found work. some people attended the conference. not lots of people attended the conference. I think it's because they know there's always the picky people that would say that's not lots. when I was a lad lots meant lots! lots of people know that's why they don't say lots. |
Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
A lot of what you post is rubbish.
Some of what you post is rubbish. Two different things - 'some' is not the same as 'a lot'. |

Mustn't let those pesky facts get in the way if you don't believe people are sending food back to food banks because they can't afford to cook it. Obviously it's not happening then  This happening in our country is ridiculous, how can we justify sending all that money abroad while people are in this situation? Is Cameron going to get the press to call these food bank users scroungers? Just watched another Panorama program about the bankers intentionally screwing over businesses and people with 'swaps' just for a bigger bonus. Whole situation is sickening as more are having problems getting by day to day. |

Re: This is 2013 - NOT a third world country
Interesting point made on the radio today was that we still have a lot of people with a lot of debt around their necks built up over the last 10 yrs or so which is only now beginning to bite as wages don't rise with inflation so if the Bank of England stick to their plan of linking interest rates to unemployment figures then we may see a lot more people at the food banks in the next couple of years
|
