Re: New Tivo
This is US only, nothing to do with the Virgin Media TiVo indeed:

Re: New Tivo
Oops my bad i didnt read that bit. But just think how cool it would be to have that box here in UK
|
Re: New Tivo
Anything is possible a few hardware adjustments etc the so called tivo premiere was us only now we have a near like offering apart from the tivo stream box and peanut qwerty remote.
|
Re: New Tivo
Thought new owners said they wanted to move away from TiVo. So I think that mean until the TiVo deal runs out, we will get nothing new in the way of software on TiVo boxes.

Re: New Tivo
do you think we'll ever be able to watch recorded shows through mobile etc? that would be absolutely amazing. no way sky could counter that!
|
Re: New Tivo
Could have sworn one of the news stories linked here when the deal was announced said that the new owners were looking to ditch the TiVo and replace with their own boxes in the future. Might have changed since then, I lose track with all the different news about the takeover.

Re: New Tivo
It was probably just a blog sprucing their article up rather than it being an actual quote.

The current boxes don't have the hardware required to encode the video so it is suitable to playback on a mobile device. They could possibly do it via the cloud as another option. |

If the new owners have their own box and software i'd imagine tivo will be phased out once the contract ends they'll see that as a big way to save money i'd guess? |

I would assume TiVo have devoted their development time to adding the new features, rather than tidying up the remaining SD screens. I agree that they should though. |

I suspect that is what they would like to do. But it is possible that the success VM have had with Tivo might just convince them to leave VM alone with regard the set top box they use. If Tivo hadn't been such a success, I think we'd be heading for the Horizon box for sure. ---------- Post added at 12:12 ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 ---------- Quote:

But the question asked in the article re HD screens was also answered in the same article: Quote:

The fact that VM haven't got the previous HD screen updates, is a separate thing and is down to the fact that the VM TiVo hasn't had a major update since TiVo did the change. I would expect them to show up as part of the next update |

Ok. I'm going to give up as I've very confused now lol
|
Re: New Tivo
As long as the actual picture output from the bleeding box is in hd, I won't be worrying too much.

Maybe you should have stayed with Sky; they have a box with basic functionality which still manages to do that :D Ooops... I'm in trouble with the Sky guys now. Just kidding... :) |

In the USA TIVO already has these kind of capabilities with the TIVO Roamio , TIVO stream and TIVO Mini products likewise Sky's joint development of SAT>IP offers them the potential of similar functionality around the home. |
