No widescreen on Channel 544

Since last Wednesday I have been unable to receive VM channel 544 ( LFC TV ) in widescreen format, all other channels are fine. I can alter the aspect ratio via the TV remote but this distorts the picture one way or another ~ is anyone else having this problem or had something similar in the past ~ if so is there a fix or is the problem at the broadcaster's end ??
Cheers
Paul

So it's not the broadcaster then.

Which box model do you have and how is it connected to the TV?

Samsung V+HD box connected to Panasonic Viera TX-L32E30B tv via HDML lead.
If other people are viewing this channel in the widescreen format ok I'm wondering if I have somehow managed to accidentally alter the settings for this one TV channel ~ I don't see how I could but that is the only other option unless there is a local fault but VM won't look into that unless they get a few more complaints.

Sorry that should of course be an HDMI lead !!!

What is the V+ box set to output?

prb 17-08-2013 23:33

Re: No widescreen on Channel 544

Hi the output is set at 1080, I don't think that can be the problem as channel 544 is the only one I can't get in widescreen ~ surely if this setting was wrong it would affect all channels wouldn't it.

---------- Post added at 00:33 ---------- Previous post was at 00:04 ----------

have switched output to 1080 wide and will check again when 544 resumes in the morning but it seems like it might be ok now, don't know how I could have accidentally pressed home then 7 then 4 on the V+ remote so something must have happened but I have no idea what ~ just hope what I've done will be ok ~ thanks for all replies ~ off to bed now.

This is a broadcast fault. Setting the box to 1080 wide is a case of two wrongs making a right. If you try a 4:3 channel such as 288, you'll find it is now stretched.

It has been reported to the broadcaster.

Also LFC TV show a lot of matches from when they was good, virtually all these where filmed in 4:3

Re: No widescreen on Channel 544

thanks spider ~ so my initial thoughts were on the right track after all ~ I'll leave it set up for 1080 for all channels except 544 which I'll watch on 1080 wide until the fault is sorted.

That shouldn't degrade the quality. It's also sent to 22,000 miles above central Africa, but the same is true of most channels.
