No.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Not a chance
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
At the end of the day the answer is no as why go to a very much overall inferior service.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
8 minutes in and its 90% in favour of no and just 10% (1 vote) yes
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Early days yet however the results so far suggest it's not going to be a massive problem for Virgin should they not get the BT channels.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive

I say yes unless they offer a sweetner to keep me? in the end I work hard for my money and I want value for it. I can get a better package from sky for 30% less, that's £300 in the first year. But I'm in a wait and see mood at the moment?

No even when ESPN covered football I did not watch it.only thing that bothers me is BT Sports has MotoGP coverage from 2014

Absolutely .......... NO
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
no way will I be moving very glad to see vote majority said NO
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
No way do i want to downgrade by moving to any of the other providers. Happy where i am thank you very much :)
One channel does not make a service, i did not leave when the Sky spat was at its height, i did not leave over that over hyped Sky Atlantic channel and i certainly will not leave over a channel from BT that shows a bunch of over paid ballerinas kicking a bag of wind around a pitch. |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Don't think this thread is a good idea. This forum doesn't care a jot about sports, that much is clear, so it's a misleading poll. Of course none of you will leave, none of you watch sport! If Virgin look at this place they would get misleading figures and it might go against getting the channel, unfair on Virgin customers who do want it, of which there are hundreds of thousands.

BTW from where did you get the figure "hundreds of thousands" ?? |

I watch a lot of sport including football but i'm not overly bothered about BT Sports, I would watch it if was in the XL package but certainly wouldn't pay £12-£15 a month for it. A combination of Sky Sports and online subscriptions for US sports I want to watch does me just fine. |

I'll tell you this, you don't half talk some bollox mate! You come on here spouting you know this and you know that, but basically you know **** all about what other peoples choices are for sports, i'm a big football fan and travel to home and away games as often as i can so for you to suggest that this poll isn't representative of how people feel is absolute rubbish! Btw i'm pretty sure you could get an op on the NHS to remove your head from your ********! |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
This poll is asking a generalised question, which will be read and answered by all forum users. A large proportion of those forum users have no real desire to watch sport on TV thus they will not be fussed about this issue. Their response to this poll is thus quite obvious.
If however the poll was able to be more specific and canvassed only those who are prepared to pay, in any form, for sport on tv, the absence of BT sport on VM might be a bit more significant? |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
No
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Regardless, this poll still shows that ~15% of VMs customer base are more than happy to leave to get BT Sports - that's a massive amount no matter how you look at it.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Personally l want BT Sports but l ain't swapping a overall superior service for one that is a load of rubbish.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Voted yes, as it stands I'm not 100 %. Will give it a month to see what happens. Re the results tbf this board probably understandably heavily biased towards Virgin. Seems to be an irrational fierce loyalty, but in my opinion it is not reflective of TV customers in general. Waited 25mins to speak to someone at Virgin yesterday and was told I could speak to retentions but that would take some time to get through as they were swamped. Virgin take a big risk if as it seems no BT Sport and the XL price remaining the same. Bonkers to be honest.

Definitelyshould be NO as BT or Sky's offering (esp BB) in my area cannot match that of Virgin, infact BT have said they can't offer infinity in my area until Oct 2014 and my expected speed would be around 15mb :rofl: are they serious? Virgin will be having my business for a very long time. |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
As pointed out by OP this is a bit of fluffy fun and forums are not representative of the country at large no matter how fun they are....
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
NO - I still think Virgin are the better of the companies for content on Tivo, and I still think they will improve

VM lack the one thing that BT and Sky have, which is leverage. You gotta pay to play, and VM aren't interested.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
No but there again I never watch sport on TV (A player rather than a watcher) so won't miss ESPN either.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
No. I'm fed up of paying as much as I do.
Can you even get sky sports F1, sky sports 3 and 4 with BT Sports? I've never felt less guilty about watching sport on dogy internet feeds. |

Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
If I go with BT I lose Sky Sports (no satellite reception). Also, does BT really expect customers to swap all their wiring round to switch from Virgin. More holes in walls & floorboards up just for a few football matches. No thanks.

Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Even if Virgin got it I would not pay extra for it....
However losing content on the On Demand, HD channels missing, price not actually any better really, Sky Go a far better product then I am close to looking across the way. I do not have a BT phone line installed but hear they sort that if you are a new customer etc and I would be signing up to everything with them. Just a shame that the internet would be so bad with them but then the 120MB I currently get is overkill for what I use but it's part of the VIP so I have it. |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Already left, will pay far less overall on BT infinity and their TV service, plus Netflix. I found I was watching either Netflix or ESPN, so the loss of a load of channels I never watched is neither here nor there.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
It's a no from me. Not bothered about sitting in watching sport when I could be out enjoying the world around me.
Oh and by the way, what's all this I'm hearing about BT sports and whats happened to ESPN?? :D Cheers Grim |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
No
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Yes, already left this morning, not just because of BT sport but also Sky Atlantic Universal HD etc. Also because received a cheaper combined deal with BT/SKY.
Sky especially, got 25% discount for a 12 month period |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
I'm going to change my view and say if I can get a good offer from Sky then I'm going to go. I do like the service despite all Virgin's faults but this situation does put me in a good negotiating position for a month.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Not only do not want to leave but cannot as my block conditions include a ban on dustbin lids and would never ever join BT for anything again.
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
For a £9 investment in a GroupOn voucher which gets refunded off your first Sky bill, you can get 50% off for 12 months. Sports, Ent extra plus and multiroom is £36.50 per month, rising to £38 in September and 40gb infinity and landline is £30. Total of £68 a month and I currently pay £89 plus I'll get BT Sport downstairs, SS 3 and 4 in HD and Atlantic.
I think I'm going to go. I'll be back in 12 months or to moan when the weather gets bad and the TV doesn't work! |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
I had cable since cable and wireless days and then NTL bought it and finally re-named Virgin Media..i think since 1998, because i remember seeing LIVE TV!
I hate Murdoch but the BT Sport fiasco is the final straw. I have been on chat with Sky and for the identical package that i have now 2 boxes, i have been quoted £62. I pay £81.00 with Virgin for less channels! I have also seen on seenit.co.uk that Sky are offering a transfer over with BT Sport paid as a credit for 12 months..in other words..free.. Can someone explain to me now why I should not go to Sky because I don't really want to... |

|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Give up that broadband? Nah!
Wee bruv has given me his BT password so I'll watch the odd Sunderland match but that's all. |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
I said "No" I am not surprised in the least at what is going on. Remember at the beginning when Virgin said they were at the point of signing? It sounded like they believed it. Then all of a sudden everything changed. Did BT move the goalposts. Remember when Virgin Media was formed there was a spat with the new company within a very short time.
Have we got the same again. A new company lets see how far we can push them. All credit it looks like it happened naturally but there does seem like there is a relationship between BT and Sky that wasn't quite there before. Virgin Media for their part have a figure in mind and at the moment are not moving. Interesting times. |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Quote:
Sky had no say who puts channels on the satellite so BT Sports on Sky was always going to happen Virgin Media is different as the platform is solely owned by Virgin and nobody can put channels on without agreeing a deal with Virgin hence the deals taking longer (if at all) |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Quote:
It is on, but suspect that Sky have seen no reason to irk their customers who will get BT sport, by not having it on. So as he says, not seeing so much a relationship, but more necessary evils (i leave it to you to speculate whether both are evil, neither are, or one is :D ---------- Post added at 09:18 ---------- Previous post was at 09:15 ---------- i voted yes. Mainly as I had considered Virgin as an alternative, wholly as ESPN was free. Sport seems to dominate my viewing these days, and whilst I like sky atalantic, I also believe you should occasionally change companies (i hate relying on anyone) |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
So you voted that you would leave a service you don't have?
(The question isn't 'would you', it's 'will you' - you have to currently have the service to leave it.....). |

oops, is that bad? |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
I think once a broadcaster has an epg slot they can transfer it independently of Sky? Might be wrong about that, but are the new Bt sport channels using the same channel numbers as the old ESPN suite of channels used?

I offered my opinion. You offered yours. Are you saying that as a "new poster" I should not offer my opinion? I based it on the content that Tivo offers, (on demand music, catch up, series catch up and apps) and not necessarily the number of channels. What I will agree with you though is that Virgin do need to pull their socks up a little as they seem to becoming complacent. |
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
It depends what else BT snap up the rights to, 30 odd premiership games, rugby and a bit of tennis not felt in my household. Maybe more in others but certainly not enough to leave
|
Re: Will you leave Virgin Media if BT Sport Doesn't arrive
Yes despite the excellent service bit me VM can't negotiate with anybody in securing services.
