Annoying message about Flash Player
Several times this morning I have had the same message to 'Please download latest version of Flash Player'. I've done it twice today, even uninstalling the previous version and downloading the latest version, but the message still keeps appearing.
Any ideas folks? |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
its clean up ,reboot
Firstly uninstall flash from add remove programs Run a disc clean up open my computer right click C: select properties then disk clean up. Tick all the boxes and let it clean. Then reboot. The using your browser google Flash player and install from Adobe site . See if that helps |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
I think there was a few missing commas there, think he meant clean-up (as in remove), reboot, reinstall it.
Yep, that's what he meant :) |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
my bad grammar. Amazing how a comma changes everything lol

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
I use the free update checker on http://www.filehippo.com/. For the past 2 weeks there have been updates for Flashplayer that just won't work! Filehippo says it's Flash's problem.

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
that is a Packard bell warning not a flash warning by the looks of it. There will be some Packard bell stuff running from start up.
Hold win key and tap r a run box will open type msconfig. Click the start up tab and untick everything that says Packard bell. I personally would most likely untick a hell of a lot more but they will do for now lol exit and click reboot later In control panel add remove programs . Here I would uninstall everything Packard bell you do not use. Reboot |

Some will say there is a risk in this but if you take a restore point before you do it you should be able to restore using safe mode or a boot cd for which os it is . Vista to win 8 has this option from boot ---------- Post added at 12:20 ---------- Previous post was at 12:19 ---------- perhaps screen shop your programs list also |

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
ok that looks healthy . What is it that triggers it? there should be a way of stopping these kinda things
|
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
Ideally you wouldn't be disabling it as those warnings are usually helpful in keeping you safe. Having an out of date flash player means you can be infected with a virus from simply visiting a web site, hence them warning you about it.
I have seen other computers recently that have had flash upgraded but the browser tells them to get the latest version, so I don't think the PBell software has its knickers in a twist this time. Resolved the problem in the other pc's by uninstalling flash from the control panel>add/remove programs, then the same with the browser they were using. Rebooted and then installed the browser, rebooted to be safe and then downloaded and installed the latest flash. Hopefully that works for you but if not, and you are happy to remove the Packard Software, you can probably do it through the control panel or by scrolling down in that MSCONFIG list and untick the entry that probably has Packard Bell in the directory name somewhere. |

We learn something new every day. :) |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
Well I didn't know that I thought TDG owned PB :)

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
Several years after this thread began, a Windows 10 update in July 2021 has removed Adobe Flash Player from my Packard Bell device (EasyNote TJ65) because it is no longer supported by Adobe. However, I now get a Packard Bell message telling me to update to the latest version of Flash Player ... every day ... every time I have been inactive on my laptop for a short while.
How do I get rid of this Packard Bell pop up message, please? :( |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
had a quick scan back and if the follow the earlier instructions from start up that may fix it
At a guess one of the Packard Bell bloatware apps uses flash and now fails so if you stop it running it should stop the warning |

I used to have all kinds of problems updating flash so I finally just started replacing FLASH.OCX with the latest one and it works fine.... My main flash version is 7 but the flash.ocx is flash 9 so in essence I have flash 9 when going to flash sites and all...... When I goto a site to verify my flash version it says 9... Welcome to cableforum.co.uk Hazel :) |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
Hasn't Flash pretty much disappeared from the Internet now? Replaced with better options.
|
I wouldnt say BETTER just different........
I love flash, shockwave and Java and enjoy playing games :) |
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
It's so outdated and not very safe or secure by modern standards. Hence why its been left to the history books.
|
Ya its a bunch if BS Steve,I havent ever had an issue with flash, shockwave or Java :)
|
Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
I haven't come across a website that still uses Flash or shockwave to be honest.

Not everyone is equally able to weigh evidence and assess trustworthiness of sources. That’s part of a good education. Based on your posts here, I believe your ability to assess quality of evidence is weak. In common with many conspiracy theorists you look at the world, see that you’ve come to different conclusions than many others, and explain the anomaly by telling yourself that it’s because you can think for yourself while everyone else can’t. The delusion then becomes self-perpetuating. 5G masts do not risk human health. The covid vaccine is safe and effective. “They” have not trumped-up the pandemic for nefarious purposes. Flash Player was retired because it is a system resource hog, open to attack by hackers, and there are newer, safer, cheaper and more efficient alternatives available. |

You are running an unsupported operating system which doesn’t get security updates, no anti-virus, no anti-malware, and a firewall that hasn’t been supported for nearly 15 years? Have you considered that the reason your anti-virus was slowing things down was because your PC is virus-ridden, and it was trying to get rid of them? |

My PC is 2012 era and I've just upped the RAM to 18GB (it uses triple channel so install in banks of 3, had 6GB (3x2GB) added 12 GB (3x4GB). Would like to add a new graphics card better than current GT1030 but not at prices being asked. May look at SSD's ( a pair, one for Windoze, one for Linux ) once stable I can use the current 1TB O/S rust for more storage to pair with existing 1TB data drive or update those to newer and bigger. |

The GFX price inflation is slowing down. Recently I have seen a 3600TI at MRRP and today on HUKD there is a 3070 TI founders edition for £560 so it might all be coming to an end |

56MB jeez you really are living in the dark ages.
Why not move to a more modern system with at least 8GB ram. |

I saw something sometime and 8Megs was all the way maxed... (I can make it lower but then the monitor is sluggish in displaying things)

I take it you only have on board graphics on your steam powered machine?

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
Well if you have an add in card it would like be a very early gpu. So chances are it's not much if its utilising system RAM for your display. I imagine you probably have an old CRT style monitor.

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
And a 56k US Robotics dial-up modem, probably…
