Welsh pop singer Bonnie Tyler has been confirmed as the UK representative at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.
The 61-year-old, best known for her 1983 hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, said she was "honoured" to be asked.
Interesting choice. Hope she does well though I doubt she has much of a chance.:)

Well if only she could enter one of these past songs then she would win it.

Well she has to

1) Get a good song as well
2) Not be British

'Nil points' I reckon... :D

Good luck to Bonnie in the non-event of the year.

Why does this junk get televised every year? Do people actually watch it? Does anyone actually give a damn?

The only thing it used to have going for it was Wogan extracting the urine, but now he has gone, it is decidedly "Nil Points" and high time for it to be canned.

Well you know the rules, in the unlikely event that she wins she will be British otherwise she's Welsh :D

Well, she is a bit of a non-entity as far as I'm concerned.

She's still pretty 'popular' to some on the Swansea 'entertainment' circuit.

That may well be, but I don't recall her doing anything of significance since the mid 80s?

I actually like watching this every year and its not just for the UK entry some of the other singers are pretty good

Lets face it we all like to bitch how the UK never gets any points and its the same ones every year

I want to know why all of a sudden we are using ancient hasbeens instead of some of the new talent that is out there (and i'm not talking about the x factor hopefuls)

I feel a battlefield 3 (360-davejavu13) session coming on after a nice soak in the bath.

So who do you suggest? Also ask yourself why none of them volunteer/are asked to do so.;)

Does anybody really give a toss about eurovision anymore? It seems to be the old eastern block good ole boys club.

Re: Bonnie Tyler chosen as Eurovision UK entry

Yep. I watch it every year. The standard of entries has gone up and up over the past decade so you get an interesting mix of good music of a kind that never gets played on UK radio and the traditional Eurotrash that in its own way is even more fun, just so long as its only once a year. :D
