Football is never short of its troubles, yet we find that once again travelling football fans have been subject to violence from the French supporters of Lyon.

Whether this is due to the fact that Spurs history is connected to the Jewish Faith, really angers me that countries still allow this behaviour to continue.

It has been said that three Spurs fans are now in hospital, and another pub just round the corner was subject to the fighting, and yet police were notified of this intelligent several days ago and the police failed to arrive.

Its beggars belief that you cannot go abroad to follow your team without without getting beaten by sickos. And it will be the British supporters who gets the blame.:(

That is to say, that it seems a little extreme - If I smacked someone in the face every time they were a little bit mouthy....... well, I'd probably be a happier person, but that's not the point

Would suggest some sort of anti-semitic link. Whether that's an excuse or a cause remains to be seen though.

Either way. Seems to me the average away supporter probably has a screw or 2 loose regardless of the what team they support.

a large part of French club based supporters are tapped in the head, inbreds! but so are the Tottenham fans. They have been told to stop with the Jewish link by various people, there was even a campaign but still they carry on.

They were told to stop using Yid to describe themselves as it's anti-Semitic in nature but their argument is that they're reclaiming a word that was used against them. They've not been told to stop with the Jewish link. They're based in an area of London with a large contingent of Jewish people and have many Jewish fans.

the club is English not Jewish. They front it out as if the clubs Jewish.

The club is English with many Jewish fans. Jewish isn't a nationality, it's a religion and/or ethnic group. They don't front it out as a Jewish club but they proudly embrace their history, their area and their fans. I don't see a problem with that.

Lets get one thing straight, l have been a Spurs supporter for more than 40 years, they have always been associated with the Jewish community, this is why there nickname begins with a 'y - army'.

I think you should get your facts straight about Spurs fans 'shouting there mouths off', Spurs have a strict policy that if any of there fans misbehave abroad, they face serious consequences from the club.

In my time there have been lots of trouble abroad when foreign clubs with there fascist fans will do anything to cause trouble towards fans ie the trouble with Feyenoord many years ago.

Spurs have a very proud record in North London towards the Jewish community, l am not of that faith but l have no problems with that, yes l do shout that nickname in the ground, BUT not outside it, can you imagine the aggro if the police arrest 35.000 fans.

Sorry to be so blunt, but we have a proud record abroad and most 'arrangement's of travel are carried out under the directions of club stewards.

Put it this way Spurs played Cardiff City approx two to three years ago, and l have never been so scared in my life with there fans, when Cardiff travelled to WHL, the club had TSG outside the ground, and waited for the City fans to arrive.

When they arrived, it was like a war zone of Cardiff fans wanting to take on the Spurs supporters, l was petrified, and l can handle myself - but this was London, so it can happen anywhere.

The Spurs fans just stood there - and l was one of them.

Did France ever deal with its anti Semitism after WWII? Seemed to me an awful lot of countries brushed their own complicity under the carpet and were happy for,Germany to accept full responsibility.

It is the second time that Tottenham fans have been targeted in apparent anti-Semitic attacks in the last three months.
In November, fans of the club, which has a traditionally strong Jewish following, were ambushed inside a pub in Rome on the eve of their game against Lazio.
Eyewitnesses inside The Smoking Dog said the thugs attacked the bar at 10.18pm on Wednesday night and then returned shortly after to launch another assault on the pub, which was damaged extensively as a result.
The pub's landlord, Dave Eales, from Retford, said the pub was "rammed with Tottenham fans watching the Champions League on the television. The front of the pub, which is made up of reinforced glass, was attacked by 20-25 people."
He added: "They threw projectiles through the windows. There was a stand off. They didn't get in to the bar. Then it calmed down. Then they came back a second time and it all started again.
"There were three injured Tottenham fans taken away by ambulance. One of them had a head injury. I'm not sure how bad it was."

Lyon have apologised to Tottenham following a violent attack on a number of their fans that left three Spurs supporters in a local hospital.
