I see they are releasing the results unusually late at 13:30 UK time tomorrow I wonder if we hear anything else about a take over or new channels

Yes they are usually released first thing in the moment so yes the Press release and conference should be very interesting tomorrow.

The two are interlinked. CNBC are saying the deal is done, so will be announced at the results tomorrow.

Ooh dear 88000 net addictions for the year, talktalk added 85000 in the final quarter.

Love how they say they added 1.5 million super fast broadband customers at 30mb and above. Forgetting to mention they're customer upgrades from 10/20mb lol. And TiVo additions are upgrades not NEW customer additions lol.

The important part is the ARPU has dropped from £48.34 to £47.31, it's seems VM's usual revenue growth of rinsing its customers has hit it's limit hence the keeness to sell up.

I still think VM has a bright future though and good things are to come.

Ooh and MT11 knows more about these things than we ever will. He knew Bt had won EPL footba rights far to early lol.

TalkTalk added 10,000 customers in the last quarter (Virgin 42,700)

Talktalk had 80,000 TV subscribers at 31st December 2012 (30% of TV subscribers new to TalkTalk).

Virgin added 896,900 more TiVo customers during 2012, including 187,300 in the fourth quarter to reach a total of 1.33m or 35% of the TV customer base. This uptake has helped to drive the overall number of paying TV customers, which increased by 210,000 in the year, including 59,900 in the final quarter.

Talktalk reported 22,000 new 'fibre' customers in the quarter but only 10,000 total customer adds. As a result of those customer upgrades (and gross adds) Virgin, once again, leads the way with over 50% of its broadband base now on super fast speeds (TalkTalk less than 1.5%).

A mixute of both.

http://blogs.barrons.com/techtraderd...tivo-earnings/

"...on October 23, Virgin Media released September quarter results, and in doing so, revealed that the TIVO/VMED subscriber base increased by another 206K, increasing the TIVO/VMED base to 1.14mm, or 30% of the Virgin system. Even more notable, 52% of those new adds were new customers to Virgin, the highest ever in the TIVO/VMED partnership, and confirming what we have been saying fairly aggressively ever since the TIVO/VMED partnership was formed – that VMED is using the TIVO UI to differentiate its service, and in doing so, successfully steal share against arch rival BSkyB"

Cable monthly ARPU (excl Non-cable and Mobile Operations)

31 Dec 2012 - £48.87
30 Sept 2012 - £48.73
31 Dec 2011 - £47.85

I'm sure they're relieved to hear that.

My take is that VM are deriving more money from existing customers, the net increase in customers at 88,000 over the year is not earth shattering. It would seem that pay TV has reached its ceiling in this country as Sky are also having problems increasing numbers. Perhaps with the takeover of VM and BT entering the market the consumer will benefit from increased competition .

Ok but why did you post lies regarding their results, just interested to know as you seem to have joined the forum to cause issues rather than join in on informed constructive debate

Just been reading an intersting analyst report. They point out that, after price rise letters, Sky, BT etc launching a fibre product, You View launching and not adding Sky Atlantic - Virgin Media's churn was the lowest since q4 2003.

Looks like a lot of the doomsdayers were wrong

Or, that none of them have anything to do with this quarter's results because not one single one of them happened in Q4 2012.

In related news, VM's churn doesn't go up despite Hyundai launching a new car model and Tesco burgers being found to have DNA in them.

It's good to know that VM launched Sky Atlantic in Q4, and didn't send price rise letters. That should shut the moaners up. :)

However:

Quote:

Net additions for the quarter were 42,700 with gross additions increasing 2.8% while gross disconnections fell 11.7%, a year-on-year improvement for the fifth quarter in a row. This led to churn improving from 1.3% to 1.1%.
And I'm pretty sure some of those things happened in the previous 15 months

Re: Virgin Media Fourth Quarter 2012 Results

Wasn't the point he was making that churn in Q4 2012 being lower than its been since Q4 2003, despite W, X, Y and Z happening, where W happened in Q1 2009, X happened in Q2 2012, Y happened in Q3 2012 and Z happened in Q1 2013.

It's not surprising negative factors that didn't happen during the specified timeframe didn't have a negative effect during the specified timeframe.

There have been many posts about, they will lose custom if they don't get Atlantic, BB from Sky and BT is far better and will drive customers away from VM, price rises are unacceptable and people will move to competitors etc etc. My point was, Virgin Media is holding its own when the competition is getting more intense.
