Just pointing out that sometimes they are deemed to tell the truth..;)

I'd like to suggest ALL advertisements should be treated with suspicion..not just VM's.

It's the having to read between the lines with all ads that gets on my nerves.All those delicious offers and bundles that one sees that when you look further into them and find the hidden costs,they turn out to have no real savings over other companies products.The way they split up the costs through out an ad and you have to add up to get some idea of the total cost and then when you think that's not too bad and you then make further inquiries and find there are other hidden costs that barely get a mention and only if you think to ask about them.

It's no wonder that most of the fabulous offers leaflets end up in the bin.It's too much hard work.

And whatever the product whether it be beans or broadband the obfuscation to prevent one from comparing like with like really does make me want to beat someone around the head.:mad:

I don't trust that Bolt guy. He's lied again and again about my speed upgrade, so I'm not going to start believing him now. He should stick to running.....

Who is saying they have never been reprimanded? The point was the scale of virgin medias banned adverts...25 banned adverts in 18 months as you obviously missed that :rolleyes:

Was it not one of virgins/David Tennant's adverts which was banned not long ago for saying Goodbye to Buffering? :nworthy:

That doesn't track. All companies separate out marketing and promo budgets from other costs.

Just because they are organizationally separate does not mean neither can change.

Both are are still money, and both count towards their bottom line in the end.

However I doubt very much within any company with shareholders you can simple divert a marketing budget to offset price increases. The financial structure is more complicated than that and I reckon most investors would be more willing to allow a company money to advertise than most of things, as it's seen a positive thing to do.

Plus even if it were possible, the pricing difference most customers would see would be negligible, and the long term impact for the company would far outweigh the short term benefit.

Perhaps, but consumers care about the benefit to themselves, not the benefit to the company.

Our 0.1% pay rises this year are negligible but the unions still spent millions fighting for it... :-/
