Horse & Country TV on its way to Freeview?

Horse & Country TV are doing a survey on whether Horse & Country should launch on Freeview, Freesat, BT Vision or Virgin Media. I voted for VM and the survey is available via this link:

I know, nodrogd. I participated three times; I voted for VM twice (as I am a Virgin customer) and I also voted for Freeview, especially as I feel sorry for Freeview with all the garbage shopping channels. They may as well have something different other than shopping channels.

I have both, & can record from both, so as long as we get one or the other I'm happy. Survey seems to have closed now.

Al Jazeera set to launch local UK channel?

Quote:

Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al-Thani, the network's Director General told AFP: "We are currently working to launch a news channel from the United Kingdom."

Al Jazeera UK would broadcast during prime time, replacing the international schedule from Al Jazeera English on all UK digital TV platforms with news bulletins tailored for a UK audience.

Cool! More space on the multiplexes for more decent channels on Freeview:D... NOT! I'm guessing more shopping, sex, news, +1 channels or random niche (such as Information TV) channels that nobody has heard of!:td::td::td:

I have read on a516digital.com that Film4 +1 will be returning to Freeview this summer. What a waste of multiplex space:td:. They could've launched Sony Movies, True Movies 1 or TCM in that space if Freeview want a good film channel. What... is going on!!!:mad:

Broadcast: UKTV may launch Best of channels for that new Freeview Slot.

UKTV is also expected to announce its fourth Freeview channel in the coming weeks. The slot is currently being filled with Dave Ja Vu, a +1 version of its male-skewing entertainment channel, and one option would be a best-of-UKTV channel akin to Sky’s Pick TV on Freeview.

Sounds good! Maybe some decent entertainment on its way to freeview.

Depends what the broadcasters are willing to pay for a slot on Freeview. I'm of the same opinion with any +1 channel on Freeview, but the Mux operators are after profit, & he who bids highest usually gets the slot.

Yeah, its a waste of space but no-one else wants the space so it doesn't really matter.

Info from a516digital.com and AFP.

Hate it when they remove international or European versions and replace with UK Versions.

MTV never the same when the UK got MTV UK instead of MTV Europe.

Preferred Eurosport before it changed to Eurosport UK and same recently with Eurosport UK.

Q Radio to close and space reuse by Kisstory from Tuesday.

Q Radio to close on Tuesday.

Kisstory will be available on the Freeview TV platform, where it replaces the Q Radio from May 7th.

Quote:

Kisstory will build on the hour-long slot on the main Kiss station playing classic older tunes throughout the day, while KissFresh will be the station for new music and guest mixes spanning the hip-hop, R&B, EDM, House and garage genres.

The stations will be on air 24 hours a day from next Tuesday 7 May and will have presenters who will pop up through the day rather than being held down to a specific show time.

Kisstory will be available on the Freeview TV platform, where it replaces the Q radio station, as well as on the Kiss Player and KissKube iOS app. KissFresh will be available through the Kiss apps and players.

I assure you it is up & running in all areas with the full freeview service (it's on the SDN mux). If you haven't retuned since 4th July you need to do it again to receive the channel, as it was previously occupied by G.O.L.D.

If a retune still hasn't found it, do one with the aerial disconnected, then reconnect it & run it again.

The BBC has announced it will launch HD varients of all it's TV channels early next year on all digital platforms. This has come about mainly due to the freeing up of capacity on Freeview (viewers will require DVB-T2 compliant sets or boxes, & may need a new aerial).

Local TV outside England not going to be on Freeview Channel 45 - but lower.

The Freeview web site has confirmed that Film4 +1 will launch on Freeview Channel 45 on August 27th.

But that was set to be use for Local TV Channels in Scotland and Wales.

No word yet on the new channel number for Local TV in Scotland and Wales yet but we at Media Boy HQ thinks Local TV outside England and Ireland will launch on Freeview Channel 34 or 41.

Travel Channel launches but we say goodbye to Sky Sports on Freeview.

Today has also seen the following things happen on Freeview:

-Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 remove from Freeview Channels 41 and 42.
-Travel Channel launches on Freeview Channel 42 (From 6pm to 10pm).
