Tivo fee

£5 per account as of feb or a typo?

http://store.virginmedia.com/digital...multiroom.html

Re: Tivo fee

Those pages say

£5 per box or included in any Collection

which is correct. Can't see anywhere where it says 'per account'

jb66 17-12-2012 22:02

Re: Tivo fee

look at the extra box section at the lower bit, extra boxes £5 per month or included in premier collection

BenMcr 17-12-2012 22:03

Re: Tivo fee

Where it says:

£5 per box or included in the Premiere and VIP Collections

jb66 17-12-2012 22:06

Re: Tivo fee

yes. so the premier collection or vip has no tivo fee for second box

Ah ok, get what you mean now. I'll check tomorrow

Re: Tivo fee

I can tell you that its £5.00 PER BOX, that's is why l am not having a second box.

I would rather get rid and get Sky, at least the box you get belongs to you and NOT Sky, then if you have multi room, you pay for multi room service.

I was also told by VM originally, that you will have to pay a second additional fee for that service - that's why we cancelled a second box.

In full:

VM pay full account for what you want plus £5.00 (multi room pay same again)

Sky pay full account on one box, second box pay just £10.00 but GET ALL SERVICES, additonal boxes is covered by the £10.00 and l should know, as l have four of them.

Sky multi-room is £10.25 not £10 :p: :D

Arthur I am confused do you have both vm and sky? You mention vm but then say you have 4 sky boxes

The difference between TiVo mulitroom and Sky multiroom is 1.25 a month per box, however the setup costs per box are cheaper with TiVo.

You also get a 10Mbit line per box with TiVo, whereas Sky boxes have to share whatever broadband connection you have - if you can get them connected to your router in the first place

For the basic non-recordable box mulitroom, Sky still charge £10.25 a month, but you can get a V HD box from VM for £6.50 a month

He has the box's from a previous install. Sky let you keep the box so you get a working freesat when you leave, compared to Virgin who take the equipment back at the end leaving you nothing.

Worth getting Sky for 12 months just to get the equipment and satellite installed. After that time you can choose not to pay anyone a tv subscription but have a good freesat receiver.

Yes it looks like if you have the Premier or VIP collection you will not have to pay a TiVo fee for your second box. That's how it reads anyway...

First TiVo: £5 per box or included in any Collection.
Extra TiVo: £5 per box or included in the Premiere and VIP Collections.

Why do topics always seem to end up being about Sky?! This is a thread about the TiVo fee, no one cares how much Sky costs.

Because 11.50 per tivo box is more than skys multiroom. I phoned yesterday expecting a second box for nothing back when I first got tivo it was per account plus I'm on the Original VIP. £5 for tivo features that I turn off or don't use is a joke. I just want a box that is more reliable and more space.

As I said above, I've asked about whether there has been a change or whether the site is wrong - and that it should be talking about a single £6.50 additional box fee being covered.

Re: Tivo fee

Just to confirm this.
When l was with Sky, l had FOUR boxes and paid just £10.00 for multi room BUT only ONE main fee.

When l gave Sky and went to VM, l wanted the same thing, BUT they wanted to charge per box and also FOUR fee's.

So l gave up three boxes SD, l went in for TiVo and was charged £5.00 additinal fee for the box, BUT this is the sting, VM wanted a further £5.00 for the box and also another MAIN fee, so we told them to basically stick it.

We have a TiVo box in the living room £5.00 fee, and a SD box in an additional room that VM charge us £10.00 for. So in real terms, it would be cheaper for us to go Sky and save

I know members are saying this is about tivo, BUT, Sky is much cheaper.

So you paid £10 per box for Multi Room or £10 in total?

In order to get an idea whether the fees for TiVo are good value for money, and in line with the rest of the market, people will compare the charge to Virgins competitors prices. In this case SKY multi-room. It's the nature of the beast. Don't worry, SKY customers compare their services and prices to Virgins and find things to moan about too.

Sky multi-room is £10.25 PER ROOM therefore I presume that it is equal to £10.25 per box as who would want to have more than one box in each room?

Not yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a mistake on the page - the 'free with Premiere or VIP Collections' should be next to the £6.50 fee and explain that it's for one box only

2 weeks and still no definitive answer? Does that mean the wrong price has been on the web page over christmas? Gotta love Virgin media ;)

Re: Tivo fee

Still showing up on the VM website that a second Tivo Charge is included in the Premiere and VIP Collections. So its just £6.50 extra per box if you are on those collections.

Re: Tivo fee

According to a guy I spoke to on the phone when signing up with Virgin Media back in July, you can have a maximum of 3 additional boxes. Any other boxes would require a separate connection to the network, this resulting in additional fees.

Quote:

An extra 500GB TiVo box

Add an extra 500GB TiVo box to your TV package.

Activation fee
£49.95

Monthly TiVo fee
£5
per box or included in the Premiere and VIP Collections

Monthly additional box charge:
£6.50
per box
from the Virgin Media website: regardless of what box you have, be it VHD, Tivo 500 or Tivo 1TB, it will always be £6.50. If you are on any collection apart from Premier or VIP then you will get charged and additional £5 for the Tivo 500 or Tivo 1TB.

If you are on either of those, then its just £6.50.

oh and unless its installed at the same time as your other services, its a £49.95 set up fee.

BenMcr 25-01-2013 14:18

Re: Tivo fee

That page is the wrong. You always get charged the TiVo fee for additional boxes, it's the additional box fee for one additional box that is covered by the Premier or VIP Collections

I have flagged it to be changed but unfortunately it hasn't been updated yet

Until advised otherwise, then I believe so

Not going to say always, as I'm not sure how it interacts with some of the bundles

tricol 25-01-2013 20:50

Re: Tivo fee

If you are not on XL TV then an additional box (non-recordable) is £6.50 but if it's a V+ or Tivo it's an extra £5 making £11.50.
If the extra box is a V+ then you may as well have it upgraded to a TiVo as it costs the same per month but you would have to pay the £49.99 one-off installation fee.
If the V+ box has a fault and needs to be repaired/replaced then presumably you can request a TiVo as an upgrade replacement instead without having to pay the technician visit/ installation fee of £49.95 as he's already there to do a repair or box swap ?

Only if it's in the same install as another TiVo

If you have a 500GB TiVo installed by itself, you only pay the install fee - the activation fee is £0

So if you have VIP you only pay 1 TiVo fee if you have 2 TiVo boxes?

What would be the cost of VIP 100 with two TiVo's instead of 1 and a VHD box. Thanks :)

No, if you have VIP with two TiVo boxes you pay TWO TiVo fees

You only pay ONE additional box fee

So VIP with two TiVo boxes instead of one TiVo and one V HD is £99 + £5 TiVo fee for the addtional TiVo box + £14.99 Line Rental
