2 US Channels

Just noticed my VMNG300 was rebooted this morning at 06:48 and I now have 2 US channels. :)
The 'Boltmeter' was suggesting the doublespeed was due to complete end Dec. 2012, so looks like they are on target?

Presuming this is a precursor to the 120 due end Jan 2013?

Re: 2 US Channels

youre lucky. upstream bonding itself for many has been triggered months after downstream then more months for the actual upload double.

I noticed Newcastle went to 2 upstream and 6 down last week, but according the boltmeter we aren't getting 120Meg until Sept-Dec next year, early upgrade maybe?

Exactly the same for Ipswich area although still only have 4 DS channels - my folks on the busier part of the city have been upgraded to 6 DS channels a while ago, have noticed improved latency since the extra upstream channel has been put in.

I live on the fringes of a cable supplied area, so I guess they don't have a lot of work to do here.
Not that many VM customers about, it seems to be mainly BT/Sky users according to the thinkbroadband map.

thenry, since getting R37 we now have 7 D/S channels. Is that the same for you? The channel numbers are different as well

Weird, vmng300 and 2 US channels too.

Probably came around the time the service dropped for a few minutes earlier on today.

the VMNG300 was given a firmware upgrade to bond upstream channels.

192.168.100.1 look at your down and up stream stats

Re: 2 US Channels

Does the other poster have the channels marked as Channel 1 and 4?

I wonder if the first bit of the upgrade really will be done by the end of this month, it's looking unlikely now.

I've also just noticed that the second US channel appears to have moved. (or maybe I've locked a different one now).

Yes, VMNG300 showing US-1 and US-4. Bonded to Channel 1 and 2 respectively.
Can't say I've noticed it making any difference in my day to day usage though.... :)

Out of interest does Ch1 and Ch2 ID's correlate with 45.8MHz and 35.8MHz resp?

Would you believe lucky guess? ;)

Although the DOCSIS specs do leave channel Id numbering as Vendor / ISP Implementation specific option with only some caveats relevant to unique Ch ID's within "Bonding" and "Load Balance" groupings…….
However from a maintenance & support perspective it would make sense for NOC to deploy nodal/CMTS channel/frequency plans to a more uniform convention nationwide although with a mish mash of originally disparate area topologies and virtual node combinations then I wouldn't be surprised if some exceptions can also still be found! ;)

RB2004 25-12-2012 17:07

Still no upstream bonding here :(

Zhadnost 27-12-2012 18:56

Re: 2 US Channels

We may have 2 upstreams, but we still haven't had our speeds increased. I wouldn't be too upset if I were you.
