May I ask why you are asking ? There going to be a few % that your not going keep 100% or the service in tip top condition like all things, you work to a average when services are used by the millions/thousands of customers.

You have problems? - just wondering ;)

A truly pointless poll to instigate. There are any number of answers between yes and no. Try again perhaps with a 1-10 scale. Or 1 - 100.
Actually, I have an idea. Make this the last post on the subject

I'm a new Virgin customer on 60Mb BB and voted yes.

Having come from BT Infinity, I am used to higher upload speeds and no throttling, but I knew about these things before I moved to Virgin.

I'm not over keen on being throttled, but I tend to do my downloading when I get up at circa 6.30am, just kick it off and leave it, so it's no great problem.

I do miss the 17Mb upload speed though. :(

Out of interest, do you not find browsing, and just generally everything to be slower on VM?

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

So, excuse me for asking a personal question, why move from BT BB to Virgin, where you go from no throttling to being throttled and a poorer upload speed? Sounds weird to switch to a product which you have inferred is inferior to BT.

All happy here , so voted yes!

As for moving from BT to VM , perhaps the grass is not always greener on the other side!

Concerning the upload speed , excuse my ignorance here , but why is a faster upload better than a slower one?

No good upload speed and price rise up but still YES 80% :tu:

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

I voted yes as no one can match the price I pay for a service with little or no issues in Liverpool.;)

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

I voted 'no' as the question referred to 'current' service. As of today I can't stream Youtube or high quality iPlayer without buffering or errors. The 120Mbs service shouldn't even be on tickover for such applications...

Had the question been asked 30 days ago, or (hopefully) in less than 30 days time I would have answered 'yes'.

Such are the fickle delights of opinion polls...

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

I voted no for a number of reasons.

My speed doubling has been pushed back 2 times now, even though neighbours who are new customers, get the new doubled speeds.

The price is going up by almost £4 for me, meaning I will be paying clost to £36 a month for 30mb.

The youtube throttling.

A good black & white question.

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

I voted yes. It's working. It's fast. My family use it every day without a problem. I use the super hub in modem mode with a DIR 615. Last speed test said 94Mb. I don't appear to need anymore upload and currently have 5Mb. I play Battlefied 3 and it works fine.

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

If you had asked this question 3 years back I would have said yes, I am happy. As you ask now after 3 years of on and off bad service, the answer was no.

mines working fine at the mo so voted yes, looking forward to the 120mb and seeing how crosstalk can degrade fttc as more and more get fttc there speeds get slower, a block on other forums put this:

irst installed 5 months ago

wont be long before it goes below 80 thats some massive crosstalk? How much more can it be effected?

hope they get the 30a profile out soon

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

only thing that can top 120down would be 20mb up to compete with fttc but as cables upload seem useless looks like 12s gonna be the max.

Never really had too many issue, couple of capacity issues but they was sorted out which took a little longer than I would have liked.

Re: Virgin Media Broadband

I voted No because of the Utilisation problem our cable has had for 6 months (and counting). Not only are VM selling into over subscribed areas which compounds the problem, the fix dates assigned are set deliberately too short to try and keep the customers from leaving. If they were told the true fix date, a lot of people, if they had the option would leave and join another ISP ..

Utilisation seems to be a more common problem - looking at the VM Foum posts, a significant percentage now seem to have a high Utilisation cause.

VM is a postcode lottery. If you live in an area where the network is within capacity then you have a good experience. This accounts for the "problem, what problem?" posts .. However if you live in a part of the VM world that has an imbalance of customers v. capacity, you have a problem. VM does not have the resources to address the problem in a timely fashion and so has to "band-aid" a solution, rearranging the deck chairs and then telling the customer they have "fixed" the problem.

The Speed Doubling fiasco is not really a service problem, just a marketing fail. VM felt they had to try and compete with BT speed-wise but not having the same money, resources and infrastructure, they would always be struggling.

Yes or No. Vote now.

If I was a troll, even an affectionately regarded and almost harmless troll, I would definitely ask this question in the hope of getting a damning condemnation of VM. I wouldn't care how unscientific the sample was, just as long as I could get the result I wanted.

An almost two thirds of forum members happy with VM isn't bad considering that there is probably a tendency for forum posters to be here because they have a problem with their service.

My service during October and November left a lot to be desired. This last week it has returned to its absolutely brilliant norm. I therefore voted YES!

Good point! I hadn't thought of that when voting. VMs TV service with the broadband currently beats all comers.

Big danger for VM is Sky reselling BT's Ultra fast BB bundled with Sky TV.
