Virgin media technical asset

I came across this on my travels

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2012/11/22.jpg

I can only describe it as a giant street cabinet, covered in ivy, with a door on one side. The fence gate was not locked and the green door was open just enough for a mouse to get inside, although secured from fully opening with a rather flimsy looking padlock. Written on the door was "VIRGIN MEDIA TECHNICAL ASSET". Anyone know what is inside it? Is it the cable headend? A core router? Something else?

Re: Virgin media technical asset

Wont be a headend, probably a node (or 3)

The wire fence is a Faraday cage to stop it interfering with all the local Super Hubs... :)

Where is it?

Looks like it could be a Core Transmission Network re-gen site.

Or if there's a mast near it, it could the kit associated with that.

RB2004 20-11-2012 02:43

Flux capacitor lol

Ooh, not really a major target is it? You're pretty smalltime in the terrorist stakes.

It's all about taking down the infrastructure people rely on. Nobody cares if you blow up the white house these days. Knock half the country's internet offline though...
