I can't get to Google.co.uk and Google.com

Cableforum is slow, however Facebook and Ebay are working perfectly here.

Yup. Wife can't browse .jp sites and domestic internet banking is in the toilet also.

Same here. I can access Facebook, but can't access Google, Twitter, Amazon and tons of other sites. Posting from my phone cos I can't access this site on Virgin either.

---------- Post added at 17:01 ---------- Previous post was at 16:58 ----------

Just got off the phone to Virgin. They said it is a problem with a Google server that should be resolved within 4 hours. I'm not holding my breath though because last time the was a routing issue it took days to fix.

A few are not working for me such as www.hotukdeals.com www.speedtest.net and Amazon is also loading slow. Seems like Virmin are having DNS issues

I lost all internet with my DNS servers set to OpenDNS as i normally have them, reverting back to the VM server brought the net back.

My internet was working fine today, and then all of a sudden it kicked me of World of Warcraft as if my internet disconnected. Now i can't get back on the game or my VoIP program (mumble) but everything else is working fine.

Can't get on www.battle.net either...or a number of other websites...but a lot are fine.

anybody know if this actually on virgin's end or is there something i'm going to have to do to fix this?

cheers.

What are your DNS servers set to? 194.168.4.100:53, 194.168.8.100:53?

Speedtest works for me, however hotukdeals doesn't.

Some random sites that dont work for me are:

http://google.co.uk
http://digiex.net
http://bbc.co.uk
http://theverge.com

MSN Messenger and Skype also do not work for me.

I'm guessing its a routing issue as i use Google DNS, however swhen witching back to Virgins DNS the same websites / services don't work.

If you have access to a VPN use that, thats how im browsing websites that don't work at the moment.

DNS : 194.168.4.100 194.168.8.100

I left the entries in my router empty and these are defaults i've been allocated. I will try Googles DNS servers to see if this makes any difference

Edit

Tried Google DNS no difference. Some websites though are loading but very very slowly, www.bbc.co.uk for example

I've got problems here in CV11, virtually no Internet access - thank goodness for iPad with cellular; faults is a no no, says 20 minute wait then call cuts of

I`ve had issues in Cov as well, no access to the likes of Netflix, Xbox.Com, Engadget, IMDB. BBC is one of few sites which is Ok.

Yep. Can't get on 90% of websites on my end either. Today is my only day off from work this week and I find it fantastic that Virgin Media are screwing up meaning I can't pay bills, check my accounts and have a general browse. Great service. Should add that I'm in Bolton.

hotukdeals, Google and most annoyingly eBay aren;t working for me

I'm Southampton so from the look of it it's a national VM issue.

So I guess we can call it a national issue now then?

Same problem in South Wales, and yes, faults just gets cut off. Not a DNS issue, I suspect its a peerring problem, possibly right at VM's network edge.

I have changed the thread title and removed the 100meg prefix to clarify that it's an issue across the board.

There needs to be better management of the forum posts across the whole of the site, multiple posts are opened about the same matter, everything is 100mb orientated, not everybody uses 100mb, and this issue, is national

This is the very nature of forums I'm afraid, keeps us in a job ;)

Title ought to mention 'Cable' though - 'National Broadband' is ADSL

Re: [Sept 29th '12] National Broadband Issues

Our 30Mb had a couple of blips yesterday but self-restored after a couple of hours each time. Again today, it's been unusable twice for several hours. The second, is just now. It's been dead since several hours - I'm currently getting a combined 40KB/s across 2 simultaneous downloads.

I've had to connect using my mobile to post this, Virgin has lost DNS completely. Nothing on the status line, which is the most frustrating bit. I'm certainly not wasting time this time of night with offshore Tech Support. Will just have to hope that network ops know about it.

MalteseFalcon 02-10-2012 00:06

Re: [Sept 29th '12] National Broadband Issues

Been getting a lot of trouble over last week with BB. Sites not loading, sites blocked randomly and speeds varying wildly from 12 MB/s to 50 MB/s on a 30 MB/s package. Sort it out Virgin, the service on internet and TV over last week and half is not acceptable. If I wasn't tied to a contract I would go elsewhere, like BT.
