Moved House, Internet Installed Today, Power Levels Ok?

Just had the internet installed and was wondering if power levels look ok?

Downstreams are maybe a bit high though if it works OK, personally, I wouldn't worry.

Downstream power is fine. Between -3 and +7 = optimal.

The SNR on the other hand for the downstream is okish, but over 40 is better.

Perfect connection.

Those levels are absolutely perfect. The downstream isn't "a bit high" at all and the SNR is perfectly OK.

On that modem you can judge signal quality by the uncorrectables. The ones shown are thos that occur on a reboot when the system is unstable for a few moments. If they're not risinfg, your SNR is fine. In any case anything over 34.5 dB is OK with thaat modem. What your modem is not good at is handling downstream power > 7dBmv, but you don't have that challenge.

What was worrying you? Anything?

I'm not sure what it does but last time I had a little connector that said "10dB" for the modem and this time the engineer put on a "6dB" one.

Not sure what they do though >.<

They attenuate the downstream only and not the upstream (save for c. ½ dB because it's there). They have a frequency filter and knock the downstraem power down.

Oh ok,

If you could provide some advice please chek out my other thread "Question about wires".

Don't suppose anyone else noticed installer installed a VMNG300?

o_O

What do you mean "or so you claim"

I moved houses, engineer wanted to give me a SH but I told him I'd rather have the 300 if it's possible, he said absolutely fine and it was plugged in....

LoL if it lasts that long and I know sooner or later I'll hve to say goodbye.

Hopefully some decent hardware will be out from VM by then !
