CONFUSED
I have a normal virgin media box for my tv. I saw a v+ box for sale and wondered how this would work in another room. Does this box work like a normal box or is it just for recording stuff??
|
Re: CONFUSED
No it will not as the box has to be supplied by VM. The person who is selling the box is selling property that is not theirs to sell as all equipment is owned by VM.

Re: CONFUSED
Contrary to what VM staff on here have told you, if you buy it VM will activate it on your account, it's a fact.

Also it's worth noting that by buying a box, you could well be handling stolen goods. |

Re: CONFUSED
I will remind everyone here that VM staff are more likely to have current info on what VM policy is so I suggest that following their advice will be in your own best interests in this situation..
Following other advice will leave you out of pocket..Only boxes supplied by VM directly will be activated. |

Imagine if the op had done what he said, he would not be happy when he found out he had wasted money because of false information given to him by someone who is possibly a Sky employee  |

To the OP, please for your sake ignore the poster I've quoted. |

Re: CONFUSED
Even if Virgin would connect a box purchased from a third party, their own model means you never own the box and your monthly sub includes rental. Why would you buy a box you'll never own and pay a rental charge on top? Point being, even if it was legal I still don't understand why you'd bother.

Re: CONFUSED
I would phone VM and ask them. They will say yes or no. They might want to know where you're buying it from, but when you see the amount of VM kit on ebay I doubt they would care.
This thread made me smile - reminded me of the Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch poking fun at That's Life where they would ring the electricity board to complain about anything. Anyway that shows how old I am and how my mind works!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2QZprRgxDc Cheers Grim |
Re: CONFUSED
VM will NOT add equipment purchased off eBay to your account. Selling VM equipment on easy is also illegal and it is monitored I believe.

Re: CONFUSED
I know someone who bought a VMNG300 off eBay and VM activated it. So it has happened.
I believe they even told VM after trying to get one they would source their own. These days they're removed from eBay but you still see the odd few in cash converters. Just like this site will tell ya VMNG300 are all gone or a CS rep could be sacked for adding one. VM would rather keep the customer so do add customer sourced CPE on occasion . |
Re: CONFUSED
Thats not true at all.

It amazes me the lengths some will go to in there endeavor to tell lies, i hope you are not doing this for your assumed employer

Re: CONFUSED
The only way you could "know for a fact" is if you did it yourself in order to get the service without paying and the only time you could have done it was prior to VM BB security being beefed up as VM will not activate any hardware that they have not supplied directly to the customer.
Any one telling you that they are currently connected by any VM set top box or VM BB hardware obtained from anywhere but VM is winding you up and you are being as gullible as you think we are to believe you. |

I didn't mean to imply that equipment sourced from 'other' suppliers would work - in fact I thought my advice about contacting VM to ask was sensible advice. The comment about and link to Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch was a lighthearted way of asking if this forum was the correct place to ask such a question. Anyway, I hope this clears up any confusion. Cheers Grim |

Re: CONFUSED
Original question of the OP has been asked and answered. Since members are now resorting to a tit for tat spat and before someone says something that will get them into trouble thread closed.
