Virgin Media Upgrade
I'm on the 'L' 10Mb package with a Superhub. My question is, when Virgin media upgrade my area, will I get 20Mb or 30Mb (as I have a super-hub)?
If I get 20Mb after the upgrade, how much extra will I have to pay, if I decide to go for the 30Mb package? (I already have the Super-hub) ...I just have/want VM broadband... Thanks |
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
10Mb will be going to 30Mb if you already have a superhub...

Is the Configuration File for both the 30Mb upgrade and the 20Mb upgrade (if you don't have the Super-hub) the same? |

Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
If I call VM, will I be able to get 30Mb today, even though my area has not been upgraded - should be done "by the end of August".
??? |
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
Ring them and ask them ?
|
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
I just called VM regarding the upgrade and they upgraded me to 30Mb for free, even though my area was being upgraded in August. :D

Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
Assume they tie you in for another 12mths ?

With speedtest.net, I'm getting: Download Speed: 33.52Mbps Upload Speed: 1.97Mbps Does that look OK to you??? Why is my upload speed less than 3Mb??? |
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
Because the 30mb service only gets 2mb upload.

I thought the upload speed on 30Mb was 3Mb... |
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
Cause you are provisioned for 2mbit upload according to the config info you posted earlier.
Sorry must have had this page open for a while before I answered...sorry |
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
Just called them again and they said I will get the 3Mb upload speed when my area is upgraded.

Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
I'm a bit confused - why would having a Super-hub mean that the speed would be 'doubled' from 10MB to 30MB?
I've just been upgraded to 20MB, but VM called me a week or two ago and offered to upgrade me to a higher speed (not sure what speed) for an extra 50p/month - I turned it down because I didn't want a Super-hub, having read all kinds of horror stories about it. In any case 20MB is plenty for my purposes :) |
Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
How much extra would I have to pay, if I decide to go for the 60Mb package from the 30Mb - I just want broadband.
Any ideas??? |

Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
I have the 10Mb and they say I will get upgraded to 60Mb!
I have no hub at the minute - justan old modem - which works fine :-) |

Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
Didn't know that 10Mb users were supplied with superhub! Oh well, I'll be sticking with 20Mb then, usual VM dual standards.

Re: Virgin Media Upgrade
It was allready confirmed on community.VirginMedia.com forums and then reposted here that all 10Mb/s customers will be moved twice...
1st, to 20Mb/s 2nd, to 30Mb/s at another later date with a Super hub install. If you don't want to move to 30Mb/s with the Super hub You would have to jump ship from VM . The move is not for years due to all the delays. but you will be paying for 30Mb/s but only get 10-20Mb/s... This last point is why alot of 10Mb/s users have left 10Mb/s as we are paying way to much for only 10Mb/s, when others get 30Mb/s download speed and 2Mb/s upload for the same price. |
