problems since the new firmware release - only today

Since the new firmware release (which the superhub did automatically) everything has been working fine.

however in the last 30 minutes I have noticed that certain website have been chronically slow to access (including this one) seems fine at the moment.

I switched my hub off and back on again and it took a good few minutes to allow me access again to the internet and I have now noticed that my traffic light, which was normal blue, is now green

When I access the superhub also I get an expiry date

Quote:

Lease Time Remaining 6 days 23:51:05
Expiry --- --- -- --:--:-- ----
Current Network Time
First time I have ever noticed this.

I checked the service problem page on Virgin and noticed that there is no problem with my broadband in the area but there does seem to be a problem with the TV (which I don't have) and that a engineer is on site and is expected to be sorted by tomorrow afternoon.

Surely that wouldn't scramble up my internet connection?

here are my figures:

Downstream Channels Lock Status Channel ID Frequency Modulation Rx Power SNR Pre RS Errors Post RS Errors

I have checked your connection and the downstream power level is unacceptably high. We will need to arrange an engineer visit to adjust the power levels.

Re: problems since the new firmware release - only today

internet is slow and for me this evening for some web pages from time to time(including the forum here) but no any strange information to my SH status

I am guessing after the firmware may trying to lock at different channels id so or give one more reboot to find one more faster ...or you may need wait for the modem to lock what ever time will be ready

about the message with expire date, it may reset it self or reboot at that time if is not bug
If you don't have a any special settings in the SH i would say to try one reset from the back of the SH with a small pin

Re: problems since the new firmware release - only today

Here in Leeds certain websites are not available, those that are inc here are very slow.
Using ambit 256 on 20meg, strange thing is though all speed tests report spot on.
Could be Leeds having probs (for me) or work in progress.

I have checked your connection and the downstream power level is unacceptably high. We will need to arrange an engineer visit to adjust the power levels.

The expiry time is the time left on the DHCP lease.

The stats look very wrong - Only one downstream channel? Aren't you on the 50Mb/s service?

Can you please advise a selection of dates when you will be available for a visit during the next 7 days? Our engineers are available in the following timeslots: Monday to Friday - 8am-12noon, 12noon-4pm and 4pm-7pm; Saturday 8am-12noon and 12-4.

Please can you also provide me with the following information:

Many Thanks,
I tried resetting the hub like the poster said above and it wouldn't let me back into the the internet then 10 minutes later the traffic light (which has been green for over an hour) has since turned back to blue again.

you must have now locked to new channels(upstream or down stream)...don't know if is better or more bad
it happened to me one time and was waiting more than 30min to get blue light when had many T3 errors in sort time
Back to blue light should have access now can you post the stats if channels are the same and how is the downstream levels?

I don't know if this is the same issue but over past hour or so I've had problems.

It start around 3am On Demand doesn't work, internet is on but either slow or doesn't load. All happened over an hour but then started to work fine. My service has been fine today until about 6pm then I had problems. Seems to be back now but others have this issue. I have Tivo and a D Link. I got an engineer booked for Tuesday hopefully is sorted soon.

Re: problems since the new firmware release - only today

Apologise perhaps i miss understand or my English is not good

1-
I had also slow internet before some time...now seems fine

2-
The modem having green light or flashing for long time it means is trying to lock at any available channels(EDIT - for me each reset usually it locks to different channel) ...it happened to me (as well) waiting for over 30 min before(not today) but at the end came back to blue after 30 min...so what i meant is it should be back to blue even if it takes longer time...so don't worry

3-
about power levels according to your first post what i have understand ... you got PM from a mod at VM forums saying you need an engineer visit, to fix your power levels because are high

at post 13 you have post your power levels and to me looks power levels are low(but with in limit) and not high

again forgive me if i did not explain better before

Just got of the phone with an Virgn had to cancel an engineer for tomorrow as im at work. But stop me before I did saying are you sure you want to cancel ( I still had to) your downstream power level - 8.1 dbmv. I have no clue what this really means.

As I can see from the Broadband Quality Monitor graph from ThinkBroadband, I did notice others with this issue around 4 am and 6pm. I don't know if that is linked to my downstream power level as it was working fine before. It's been fine for the past 24 hours bar getting kicked of Xbox for 1 minute but got back on the xbox fine. My son is much at this then I am, we are on 20mb with an old Virgin router connecting to a D Link. I don't really know what I should do now any ideas?.

No the problem around 4 & 6 am has nothing to do with your power levels
Seems was problem with VM network

Having lower power levels may occur quality issues with your connection
-8db is low but i had -12 with out issues for the broadband but some TV channels was cracking & some can not been seen, as an example

I suggest to book the appointment with the engineer ...is free, no charge for it

Since getting R36, the superhub keeps dropping the entire wired LAN about once every 5 minutes, continuously. Wifi is unaffected, and the superhub itself seems functional.

But all of my wired devices loose connectivity, for about 10 seconds every 5 minutes. It might not sound very much, but its incredibly annoying.
