Whats the Latest.
What is the latest situation with this Super-hub thing, with the Router side of it, is there any word of a replacement or fix for it yet?
Luckily we still had our old Router which we hooked up to it, and that is giving out a stronger signal, which means we can use our lap tops in another room. When we first got that new Super-Hub, we couldn't get a signal anywhere else, and had to be in the same room? |
Re: Whats the Latest.
The latest thing is that wireless still puts the superhub into junk class as a router.
It seems to be OK as a wired router. That's how I'm using it straight into my own router! For the moment, rather than use modem mode, I want to be able to play with the advanced settings and see then enhanced modem stats. |
Re: Whats the Latest.
Seph beat me to it; it is still rubbish and any other router you buy will do better. Despite the improvements they made in this revision of firmware there are still bugs which they know about and their attitude is "oh, we'll fix them next time"

Re: Whats the Latest.
.. and next time will be.....
It really is a piece of wireless junk. It's a pity that VM have their heads up one end at the same time as in the sand over this wretched device. |
Re: Whats the Latest.
I've said this before and I'll say it again - the wireless hardware itself inside the Superhub isn't all that bad (and is also upgradeable). It's what they've plugged it into that's the problem...

Re: Whats the Latest.
Nobody's knocking the Broadcomm hardware, Qasi. What makes the SH junk is VM's wireless implementation - a physical and vanity matter for which VM refuse to accept responsibility/blame.

Re: Whats the Latest.
I have never had a issue with the wireless on 3 superhubs, its gives me good strength all the way downstairs.

Do you mean, if we upgrade it that the Router will perform better? We are using the old Router, and it is working a lot better;) |

No

Be careful - VM may try to have you stuffed and mounted. |
Re: Whats the Latest.
Why - there are quite a few of us.
But, obviously, we are not as vociferious as the unhappy ones (who I hope have an appropriate resolution to their problems soon). |
Re: Whats the Latest.
I'm a vociferous happy customer who dislikes the broadband con especially VM's claims for their wretched Super Hub.

Re: Whats the Latest.
I also get reasonable results from my SHub WiFi.
As a possible explanation as to why the WiFi range on SHubs seems to vary it could be quality control in the production of the pcb antennas. The impedance of these will be vary dependent on the geometry of the tracks and in particular the thickness of copper. If these are manufactured to down to a price I doubt if a consistent result can be obtained. Does anyone know if there is trimming adjustment provided? Ian |
Re: Whats the Latest.
Well, I will keep popping in on this thread in the hope that some day there will be a post saying they are going to either fix the problem, or issue us all with one that works?;)

Re: Whats the Latest.
I have a good question, has anyone seen a router with worse range than the superhub?
Apart from the regular hub |
Re: Whats the Latest.
Yes

Re: Whats the Latest.
I heard some thing about a V/M App on U-Tube, is that like the App we are talking about, the one that Sky has at present?
I had a look on U-Tube and after going through them I never found it? |
Re: Whats the Latest.
Can you tell me what that has to do with the Superhub?
BTW, the only VM You tube app I know of is the one that enables Tivo users to watch You Tube. |
Re: Whats the Latest.
:o: I got the threads mixed up :dozey:
I came into this one to see if there was any news about the Superhub Router, being improved. |
