Have you read the article? VM is now in a healthy financial position and EE are looking to expand their acquisitions. I see this as perfect expansion for them.

If my limited experience with Orange's customer service is anything to go by (and several friends have had similar experience), this forum will get a a lot busier as VM's customer service is a model of help and efficiency compared to that of Orange.

Re: VM targeted by Everything Everywhere?
This could definately happen.
KKR who own Boots is in the process of selling boots for around £14billion in total in a deal that may take 5 years to complete. KKR are also looking to take over EverythingEverywhere. Unfortunately breaking up part of boots an 1000's of job loses all happened under KKR. They a private equity investment group, they won't want to own EE or VM for much more than 3-5 years. Also if this goes a head don't be surprised to see VM open up their network to others. All they will want to do is strip down/cut cost/ sell for profit. You may even end with something like perhaps, "VM Networks" or "UK Cable" managing the network and reselling it to other companys. An "VM digital" or something similar selling the normal things VM do now one of them will be lumbered with all the debt, |

Virgin Media's network in Westminster,Milton Keynes and barbican is owned by BT Global and is unregulated by Ofcom and is leased by Virgin Media, they were able to roll out Broadband in Westminster, however this network sharing is also a disaster and BT will not upgrade the network leaving many homes unable to get Digital TV, there is limited options in Milton keynes. Westminster and Barbican now remain unused, waste of cable! |

KKR Would still buy VM trim VM down and sell VM. BT open their network and it works fine, Ok BT's fibre network is superior but still it works perfectly well for all. [mod edit] |

If there's any more rubbish as what I've just read in the edits posted in this thread (yes the team can read them) then infractions are going to be issued. You're adults so please behave that way as they'll be no more warnings |

KKR Would still buy VM trim VM down and sell VM. BT open their network and it works fine, Ok BT's fibre network is superior but still it works perfectly well for all. Virgin Media would sell it at an unreasonable price so there would be no benefit to either the consumer or the rival company. Its been proven it doesn't work. What's wrong with BT's network? And then when technology needs upgrading like the BT and Virgin situation in Milton keynes, the same will happen again, ofcom won't be able to touch them. |

Yes the do, and i'm telling you it has been tried and tested and doesn't work, the new owners would want to keep it closed for there own use, the only reason they want it is for the infrastructure to meet the increasing demand on mobile internet use and 4G, currently they pay BT and other fixed networks for this, with there own, they cut a lot of costs

Utter ballcocks and it wont happen.
I'll show my ariase as the foot of my stairs. So these private equity firms have upwards of £12bn? to throw about? In that case why didn't they bid for C&W which they could have picked up for a snip at £1bn leaving loads of cash left to buy EE. I don't see what value adding EE network to VM and vice versa wouldadd to the new company. Virgin Mobile already uses the EE network, and EE already use VM to backhaul their traffic. By increasing what they can offer in their "all-in-one" packages. VM's mobile handsets have never been known for being the most up-to-date. Having a company that can offer the biggest network coverage, the best handsets, arguably one of the best tv packages, a high-speed internet network and a fixed line system - that makes them a powerhouse of a telco.

Re: VM targeted by Everything Everywhere?
I think the Sunday Times (where this story seems to have originated) may have put 2 and 2 together and got 5.
Apax and KKR are backing an attempt to buy EE (which is in itself by no means guaranteed to come off) and they are believed to have been sniffing around VM as well. But there is nothing to connect the two together. |

As that is all you're offering there above what VM can already deliver. Quote:

Re: VM targeted by Everything Everywhere?
I could understand bidding for VM if the football was still up for grabs, as they could have put in a big enough bid to beat Sky. This would have been a massive selling point for them. As it stands, VM still have debt but iirc it has been bonded and due to mature with interest in something like 10 years. So I doubt they would want to buy a company with that hanging over them.
