It was only to fix a few bugs. You probably won't notice any differences.

So not bugs that Joe public ever saw then.
Worrying bugs that only effect what Virgin see.

What SP meant I assume was there are no changes to the interface i.e unless you look at the software version wouldn't notice it's been updated

Most of the time if you are paranoid and think they are out to get you, you are actually just paranoid

Still does not mean that they could be  :D. To be honest I really have no feelings about it. As long as it works ( in the broadest sense )
I am reasonably) happy.

Perhaps a warning that this is going to happen - if planned of cause would be helpful

They were bugs that only a few Joe Publics saw. That's why I said "you probably won't notice any differences". The chances of the OP having them are low.

Bugs that affect everyone are rare because they tend to get found and fixed during testing.

Why is a warning needed?

If planned & it cuts off something "you" were recording( *he had it when he had a recorded programme running,so can go back) it would be a niggle. Perhaps notice in this case would be helpful.Or even if it cuts across a live show. Simply what would be the harm to warn if you can?

The updates are generally done very early in the morning to minimise the chances of that happening.

Where the updates include functional changes, then notification is given (such as the update towards the end of last year)

To spell in out its called " customer service " something as a company Virgin seem to overlook. It does not matter that it only effects a few people-If you keep effecting a few people eventually you will effect most of them :dozey:

Except it has to be balanced out against the fact that notification will cause calls

So if it's an update that doesn't change anything noticeable, and is fact designed to stop issues and fault calls, notification would be counter productive.

No I am quite happy.Perhaps I spend to much time in the States were customer services is King I come back here and it does for the most part not exist.
A example. I want a pair of Crocs ( Ok but I love them ) In to my local UK store it went like this.
ME "Have you size 8 in this style please" Reply "If its not out we dont havit"
I walked out.I hate shopping at the best of times.
Ok I think wait till I get state side and waste time going to the mall to get some ( + she who must be obeyed spending even more money & time )
So I did - thought it must be my VERY unlucky day.
Went in to shop wall full of them except the size/colour I wanted.
Was going walk out but was asked if I needed help. Said what I wanted heres the difference.
O my gosh I am so sorry we should have all sizes out. So very sorry sir. please take a seat would you like a cold drink, I will sort it now. So very sorry this have NEVER happen before ( true or not I don`t know)Wait 5 minutes or so.We are out of that one. I see you are wearing them you are sure of your size ? In that case I will order them in for you, are you here for long. It will take 24 hrs to get them. Can I deliver them to you ?
So come Virgin on a one to one customer services have been for me great. How ever as a company little things let them down

I hate to say this, because I appreciate that it makes me sound like a grumpy old man, but I cannot stand fawning customer service of the sort you've experienced in nyny. I have an expectation that if they have it then it'll be on display, and therefore an expectation that if I don't want to interact with some cloying sales assistant then I don't have to. I can't stand shopping either, so the very least I ask is that I be left alone to do it.

Normally I would totally agree with you. I tend to go self service which this shop was ( Really) The guy - guess the owner was really "upset " about stock not being filled up . I just would like please & thank you to be used more often and that ALL service industries remember that we the customer put food on the table. Is that really to much to ask

There are ways to reply to customers. If a customer asks about stock then just check, even if you know (or think you know) the stock out is what you have, just checking makes the customer feel important and may mean they come back.
