Tivo does not have reminders as yet. Could a Mod please correct the title of the thread or merge it with an appropriate thread please?

madlewis 07-06-2012 19:21

Re: Does TiVo set reminders?

No the box will receive an update, you wont need a new box. Glad to be of help :)

Re: Does TiVo set reminders?

As TiVo has three recordable tuners there isn't a need for reminders. However they are being worked on and will be added in the future.

i know what ya saying that you just record the programs u want to view but then that means a few more minutes messing around to delete the program all of which id rather not

In your opinion, many, including myself want the reminder function asap.

Your last line sums it up " virgin customers wanted the feature" that's all that matters.;)

To be more accurate, the minority who expressed a preference wanted the feature :)

Thats a very strange minority then if more said yes rather then no.:)

More said yes than no, but it was still a minority because of the "don't cares".

Thought we'd done this to death?

Or a majority as most people call more voting yes than no.

Well yes, but unless VM only have 53 customers then what I stated remains completely accurate.

The sooner the better, It might make the Tivo a complete package then, But hey we are still waiting for an ipad app that if you get it from the us apps site works perfectly so i am not holding my breath for reminders this side of coming soon

Off topic sorry - nearly EVERY poll what ever the outcome like it or not , the result is not supported by the majority. But we still get a government. :p:
Do care or don`t vote - don`t count Only wish it did Please next election can I have none of the above !!!:D as a choice - Do not think so

Sorry Ben, I would say that a lot of the people( not Carl of cause) here do not

a) Trust Virgin to deliver any time soon.
The phase "coming soon" takes on a whole new meaning when used by them.

b) Believe what "they" say at all.

c) However think that Virgin say one thing & do another .

It is a perception that Virgin have brought upon themselves. Once rooted it takes a lot to remove.

Please understand I am not having a dig at anyone posting here.
I for one have given up on Virgin supplying what I want. So much so that I use "freeview" more and more and that is saying something about Virgins delivery of free to air services. Would I recommend Virgin to anyone today NO. A year ago yes:shocked:

Re: Does TiVo set reminders?

I guess it's just one of those divisive subjects. Personally I still don't see how a function that simply switches to the correct channel is better than a function that switches to the correct channel and starts recording.

Define "a lot" in this context and is that more or less than "those who do plus those who have more important things to worry about" (the latter of which is me!)

Confirmed as included in the next major update.

Of course, if they gave a date and missed it there wouldn't be any complaints at all would there?

Personally I don't understand why people want to watch a live event at a later date, after the result has been blasted all over social media and the news sites

carlwaring 08-06-2012 12:32

Re: Does TiVo set reminders?

Which, of course, is of no relevance to anything as you can start watching a recording from the second it starts... erm... recording so we're not necessarily talking "at a later date" at all.

I started watching the Jubilee Concert well after it started as I knew there would be one or two acts I didn't want to watch. Same with "The Voice" (or any other talent show.)

I tend to watch rugby matches 30 minutes after kick off. That way I can fast forward when. Walking to take line outs, injury's & half time .I have no idea what the score is of cause:D So as live without the boring bits

Go to something you have set to record in the EPG and press the Info button then you will see what I mean.
Admittedly only happens on things you have set to record but I sometimes check on the details of that showing and basically I can't

because they could be working? At a wedding? Praying at the mosque? Deposing the body of the ex-wife? Someone else using Tivo at the time to catching up on Eastenders.

There's a million and 1 reasons. Not everyone spends all day on social media and news sites.

I rarely watch live sports but watch them 'as live' so I don't know the result. It's pretty easy to avoid results if you want to watch something at a later time/date.

I had to do it every week with "The Voice" as I rarely watched it Live as I didn't have the time.

Agreed, Tivo red button really needs substantial more development but expect that is for BBC to do and then VM to deploy. Really miss the regional news access for example. Weather and business news are also targets for me so a case of how far the BBC go to match the content of the BBC web site though the red button. The Tivo red button gives you more for a news item with the video feed for example, but only when the news is available in the first place and there seems a long way to go on that matter.

Itshim 11-06-2012 14:58

Re: Does TiVo set reminders?

As far as I am concerned the Red button on TiVo might as well be put on with lip stick for all the services it ( does not ) provide. Still use Freeview if I want them, and that is SAD

No, I mean all of the "text" based interactive information services on V+, i.e. press Home>4 and proceed from there.
