to me all this talk of him leaving is over the top at the moment. he's asked for a squad able to compete, that doesn't happen over night. we have a lot of players to shift and bring in but hey if it acts as a smokescreen to aid us with the overhaul so be it

I think Villa need two new wingers and two central defenders as we do have some goalscorers Gabby and Bent and if we can have them two upfront then delivery is all we need to crack and the goals will come not loads but enough to have a better season.

Plus we need a new manager (Paul Lambert please)

I thought you would need to sell Bent to get money to buy players?

Yes l think Lambert would be a very good choice as manager and since you lost Downing and Young the side has lacked good width.

Llorente has excellent technigue for a tall player and is pretty good in the air too and Hazard l suspect will go to one of the Manchester clubs.

surely something needs to be done in Italy. Wasn't there another scandal in Seria B or lower down this season about match fixing, not it's alleged to be going on in the top flight again.

No doubt UEFA and FIFA will totally ignore this

I don't know. The Italians seem be handling it and if players and/or clubs are found to be guilty UEFA and FIFA will hit them with bans.

He's not as good as a lot of people are making out (i know its easy to say now he's not signing for us)

Eden Hazard: 192 apps, 50 goals and 30 assists.
Shinji Kagawa: 198 apps, 86 goals and 45 assists.

The German league is a better league than the French as well.

While the German league maybe better than the French you haven't taken into account that he scored 50 of those goals and made 30 of those assists playing in the Japanese 2nd division.

whilst he might not be as good as everyone says i'd say the following

1) He can't be any worse than Giggs and will surely put in more effort
2) He can improve his game where as Giggs is on the decline.

I'd have taken him, although it's early in the pre-season so plenty of time for deals

I still think Hazard has a lot to prove, he has basically had one good season with Lille. There is no doubt he has great potential, but so do a lot of other players that clubs are looking at. Some people have let the media circus surrounding Hazard make him the hottest property in football when really he isn't.

LFC hasn't exactly been a great place for managers. Look at Hodgson. Great at his club before LFC and great job after LFC and then became England manager.

Sinclair's only got a year left as well, might put the deal for Siguardson or whom ever in doubt as well if he hasn't put pen to paper yet.

Actually I was thinking about this, Chelsea are more than likely to bump Di Matteo off soon. He's young and needs experience, as long as Huw Jenkins could promise him a decent budget then maybe he could end up at the Liberty for a few years.

The Brand Finance® Football 50 2012
The world's most valuable football brands

http://www.brandirectory.com/league_...ub-brands-2012

Arsenal Listed as the Sixth Most Valuable Football Brand in the World
By Matthew Snyder on May 30, 2012
http://www.bleacherreport.com/articl...d-in-the-world

Arsenal Football Club have been ranked sixth in Brand Finance's 2012 list of the most valuable football brands in the world, with a value of £250 million. This marks the fourth straight year that Arsenal have ranked in the top 10, following No. 5 rankings in 2009 and 2010 before a sixth-place finish in 2011. After seeing their brand value hover at roughly £213 million for 2009 and 2010, Arsenal saw that number drop to £194 million in 2011 before experiencing a 29-percent increase, which saw them land at 2012's £250 million tag. They are the third-highest ranked English Premier League club, and one of nine in the top 25. Manchester United reassumed the top ranking after posting a £550 million brand value in 2012—up from £427 million in 2011.

Brand Finance use a five-step process to arrive at their rankings. Here is the system, taken from their website.

1. Determine forecast revenues
Determine future revenues attributable to the brand over a five year explicit forecast period. This is done by referencing historic trends, market growth estimates, competitive forces, analyst projections and company forecasts.

2. Assess the Brand Strength
Determine the strength of the brand using the ßrandßeta® Index.

3. Establish Royalty Rate
Review comparable licensing agreements. Analyse margins and value drivers. Establish average royalty rate range for relevant sector. Apply ßrandßeta® Index to royalty rate range to determine royalty rate for the brand.

4. Determine the Discount Rate
Determine discount rate to calculate the net present value (NPV) of future brand earnings (accounting for the time value of money and the associated risk).

5. Brand Valuation Calculation
The NPV of post-tax royalties equals the brand value.

Brand Finance designate each of the organizations it ranks with a brand rating, which benchmarks the the "strength, risk and potential of a brand, relative to its competitors." The scale ranges from "AAA" (extremely strong), to "DDD-D" (failing). Arsenal have been classified as having an "AA-" brand rating. Manchester United boast an "AAA+" rating, followed closely by No. 2-ranked Bayern Munich, who are listed at "AAA."

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Arsenal need to wait until, I think, 2014 because they can leverage that into money. It's why Champions League was so important this year because this now effectively bridges the gap before the fair play regulations come in and our sponsorship deals can be redone.

The best idea is to ignore former players opinions as if they are so clever then why ain't they managers but of course any Tom, Dick and Harry can call himself a pundit or expert and then think they know more then the manager it seems.

Ian Holloway seems to be the odds-on favourite to replace Rodgers at the moment...not sure if such a loose-cannon is what we need right now.
