re Sky tv

Currently a vm customer however have to move to a new house because the old one is getting demolished, anyways the new apartment doesn't have vm (not a cabled area) but i do have a shared dish, each room has the sky connection (living room, and both bedrooms) however i want to have sky in each room but dont want to have to suffer watching the same stuff as the person in the living room.

i assume i have to get bt and can i get sky bb bundle? i move in on monday and i need to get all this stuff sorted before 2 weeks (carpets, laminated flooring etc)

how much do you think it will cost as i keep reading stuff about £199 a box:shocked:

Re: re Sky tv

is the sky world package, all the packages combined apart from mutv, chelsea and espn?

thenry 12-05-2012 00:21

Re: re Sky tv

if the new place has infinity enabled go for a Sky package including fibre broadband. the broadband package you want to be on is called sky fibre pro or something which hasnt got the 2mb up cap. that of course is down to your usage and willingness to spend.

with regards to tv, sky multiroom is what your after. boxes are free but you pay extra per month.

call up and try to haggle

The prices currently are as follows
Sky World £53.00
HD Pack £10.25
Sky Multiroom £10.25 with a free non recordable HD box
Sky Unlimited BB £7.50
Sky Talk £12.25 includes 01/02 calls after 7pm and weekends
Sky Talk Unlimited £5.00 for calls all day to 01/02 numbers

Total £98.25 if you took Sky Talk Unlimited , there are currently offers on via online for half price BB

When Fibre Optic becomes available at your exchange I believe the pricing is as follows

Upto 40mb / 2mb upload unlimited £20.00 which would add £12.50 to above price
Upto 80mb / 20mb upload unlimited £30.00 which would add £22.50 to above price.

Some prices may rise in September bear in mind , it's also worth noting ESPN would cost you an additional £9.00 if you have Sky Sports or £12.00 if you don't subscribe to Sky Sports.

Anytime+ will function perfectly well even at your lowest speed , I receive 9mb through Sky Unlimited BB and Anytime+ HD content is generally available to play within 30-45 seconds.

He has to receive within that guideline or he can cancel , his line can obviously cope with the minimum 9mb , my estimate was 5-11mb I get 9mb.

reason i ask is that i haven't moved into the new house yet (between flit)

Mine was posted out , I received it approximately one week before my line went live.

Simple answer to that Den is there on a long line from the exchange or have a fault , my parents can't get much over 1mb with a BT line due to being on a long line however theyre exchange is due to be upgraded for fibre later this year.

l think there is a lot of truth in how far users are from the exchange as both members of my family are 8 to 10 miles from the exchange.

Unfortunately Den , that is the limitation for some with long lines , my Sky BB line gives me 9mb which for my use i'm more than happy with until a time when my exchange is upgraded to fibre giving me the option to upgrade to either 40/2 or 80/20 service from Sky.

Due to a mess up by vm my new install date for phone and bRoadband and is now the 7th of June

I have 3 non activated phone jacks (living room and 1 in each bedroom) 2 bedrooms so will sky still install the box plus 2 multirooms or is this gonna be a further delay?

they didn't, i got shafted big style and now i'm on the war path with the housing people, the return connection for sky+ is apparently not working, no multiroom either because there was sky connectors in the rooms, so because of the total balls up i never got the 1tb sky+hd box

absolutely furious

thenry 30-05-2012 15:55

huh?

Re: re Sky tv

i got sky hd, thats it, nothing more nothing less, 1 box that only records 1 channel

thenry 30-05-2012 16:02

Re: re Sky tv

why? could you elaborate please

buba3d 30-05-2012 16:25

Re: re Sky tv

the 2 installers came up to install the sky tb box, plus the 2x multirooms, but when they went into the room they said it couldn't be done i'd have to get the housing to sort it or id have fork out the money for it, , so i never got the 2x multiroom installed (i have no idea why) just said they don't do that type of install whatever the hell that meant, so the engineer passed me onto the cs, was asked a few questions and then the installer said we have another problem, the return connection in my house aint working so i can only have the tb box but can only record 1 thing at a time, i said fine so the guy installs the tb box and it all goes well, 5 mins later the the other installer comes up and says because of the order you made and because we can't do the instal for that order you cant get the tb box they then installed the hd+ box

no tb box, no multirooms and only 1 recordable feed.

5 mins with sky and now i ask my self the question, why did i even bother

thenry 30-05-2012 16:29

Re: re Sky tv

you live in a flat or house? they meant to say they wont drill holes etc. ?

buba3d 30-05-2012 16:38

Re: re Sky tv

its a flat with a shared dish, the housing don't want dishes all over the place so its a shared dish, in each room there is a connection for the out door ariel, all he said to me was he doesn't do tat type of installation.

thenry 30-05-2012 16:43

Re: re Sky tv

then call someone that does. did they not say they will send someone senior out? does each box need its own cable from the dish itself or can the feed be split within your property?

buba3d 30-05-2012 16:46

Re: re Sky tv

i asked about using a spliter, he said it can't be done because the lnb would burn out

thenry 30-05-2012 16:51

Re: re Sky tv

he's right, you can't (googled it) not sure what your going to do now. contact the housing people and push for an agreement between sky and the housing people or tell them to get VM feeds installed

buba3d 04-06-2012 13:21

Re: re Sky tv

Bt ole reach just sent me a MSG saying I don't need a engineer to come out to install bb and phone and that I can do it my elf on Thursday, if that's the case how the hell can I not have it activated sooner rather than later

Need to get the clerks of work out, the freeview wall plates don't work in the bedrooms.
