This appeared on Liveleak.com and there was no mention of it in the UK media, so I sent links to all and sundry and just by coincidence it got picked up.

I hope they are found and punished, but I doubt the new Libyan regime has any teeth or desire to act as yet.

How soon they forget those who have helped them to victory.

I suspect it was the pro Gaddafi factions that committed the desecrations hens they don't think we helped them to victory at all ;)

Doesn't matter who they are or who they support desecrating graves is the ultimate act of cowardice and only done by the lowest of ****.

What I do not get is why Commonwealth Nations bury their war dead at the place they died?

Generally I believe families of the dead have a choice over repatriation, but in WW2 too many were dying and the logistics were impractical at a time of total war.

Incidentally, I don't believe these graves were attacked because they were British. The attackers seemed more interested in the fact that there were Christian and Jewish emblems on them.

Chris beat me to it.. This is an attack on graves of a certain faith of which in that country is likely to be old military more than recent civilian.

Yes, but were there soldiers on that site that were Muslim, Hindu and Sikh?

Just goes to show what kind of stupid mentality there is in this world. It was probably a reaction to burning the koran books in Afganistan... stupid yanks strike again.

It was a mistake, they made that very clear and they were the ones that said they did it in the first place!

I thought Afghan workmen found bits of burnt text in the bin.

I don't care who is in the grave, be they saints or scums of the earth, NO grave should be violated.
