Alternative F1 TV
Thought I'd start this thread up before the start of the F1 season..
As you know a lot of the races (about half) will only be shown in the UK on Sky F1.. but there are always FTA alternatives via other European satellites, so this thread will exist for those with FTA systems to inform the rest of the fans what's available and where.. Even if it's foreign language you can still use Radio5 for the sound track. Remember guys legal sat streams only please so nothing encrypted and no streams on sites like liveTV. Also not all sats are recievable by those with a fixed dish so to follow some channels you may need a motorized dish. |
Re: Alternative F1 TV
Try getting Eurosport International or even Sky Sport (Germany) via a satillite dish
Here are some more ways! http://www.avforums.com/forums/satel...next-year.html |
Re: Alternative F1 TV
Best way was via analogue sat on Astra 1 (19.2E), the German Eurosport channel was always shown unencrypted and with an English Sub Audio

Re: Alternative F1 TV
May have to dig out the PACE analogue box again and use the Digital Diseqc to turn the dish

Re: Alternative F1 TV
19.2E is where the old analogue dishes were pointed when Sky first came out.. If you have a dish pointing towards Sky/Freesat then you'd have to move it slightly right (9 degrees) and very slightly down (about 1-2 degrees)
Personally I have a mutant (a bit like a dreambox and runs the same type of software) that I have a 1m dish on a diseqc motor.. means I can get any of the sats with a footprint covering the UK. Remember guys that this is about FTA access which is licensed to be picked up anywhere that the footprint covers, there is no encryption and there's nothing illegal in viewing these channels :D |

Re: Alternative F1 TV
If your dish is mounted to a vertical pole then yes as the diseqc motor just goes between the pole and dish. Not every box though is diseqc compatible, your dreambox though will be..
You will need a sat meter to set it all up.. as the settings (especially the polar settings) will be dependant on your latitude north.. |
Re: Alternative F1 TV
thanks, ill have a look into it

For those interested in motor racing with an FTA system Servus TV on 19.2E has the Nascar Sprint cup from Phoenix on the 5th March on SD and HD with English commentary.
