What people want on Virgin TV

So what do you want???

Re: What people want on Virgin tv.

I want Virgin to keep up the good work - the last year has seen the introduction of it's critically acclaimed set top box, a whole host of new channels at no extra cost, additional on demand content and the promise of further improvements. It's all good as far as I'm concerned.

I want Multi-room streaming to be enabled on Tivo!! ;)

It's the only biggie I'm waiting on, reminders & red button really dont bother me.

Would also have loved Sky F1 available on XL (the VM equivalent of Sky basics +Hd which get it on Sky), however realise this was certainly out of VM's control so not their fault (still dissapointed thought!)

On the whole - happy :)

At the risk of going back on my earlier post saying I wanted for nothing, I would like ALL the OD content to show their expiry dates on TiVo. It's a little bit annoying finding things you like but not knowing how long you've got to watch them without checking on the V+ box in the other room - and as soon as multi-room streaming is activated we're going to become an all TiVo house so will no longer have that option.

I think they're going to charge people for it. Not the service but the installation. TiVo over here is much less do-it-yourself like the US (go to US Currys for it, transfers shows to your PC, etc) so they're probably setting up some you pay £30 we run a very long ethernet cable deal.

Not that you couldn't just do that yourself, but I imagine there are quite a few people who would rather get someone in or would need someone in.

Last year Virgin Media mainly focused on TiVo. Also Virgin Media have said they have a path to grow to 80 HD channels in less than 2 years.

Also i have been told they are on track to deliver that.

I'm not doubting that they'll have the capacity for 80 HD channels in another 2 years. My doubts are cast when it comes to VM closing the deal and successfully negotiate the terms in order for them to be able to carry that many HD channels. At the moment I've got 36 HD channels on my TiVo box but Sky have access to 55.

So even if VM manage to hit their 80 HD channel target I'd be willing to bet that Sky would have also expanded their HD line up to include way more than 80.

Let's face it, if they're unable to release 1 single mobile app on time, what are the chances of them being able to release another 44 HD channels in a timely manner?

That's a good point and VM have really been pushing TiVo this year which only leaves me even more dissapointed that the couldn't keep to the release schedule of the all singing & dancing iPad app! :(

NetFlix, and fix apps already on TiVo.

US TiVo has netflix, virgin must have known netflix was coming to uk eventually, why not have them start work on that app earlier? makes sense to me, anyway.

Very true, denphone. :)

I do still stand by my point though, they've had a year to to get the iPad app out and couldn't even manage that. In that time Sky have release 4 brand new iPad apps in addition to making a significant UI overhaul to their flagship Sky+ app!

The story is the same when it comes to HD channels also I'm afraid; Virgin always lagging behind. :(

Are you saying that Current TV On Demand content (On Demand -> More On Demand -> More Free TV -> Current TV) has been available on VM since 2007?

The Current TV channel launched on VM in January 2007 but I don't think that there was any On Demand content back then!

i wouldnt expect sky goign much beyond 60-65 hd channels just now, astra 1n went into service oct-nov last year but it is only to provide addiotnal spot beam capicty and to allow the hsut down of astra 2d which is at the end of it life, astra 2f launches middle this year and astra 2e begining of next year once there in place you can expect sky and broadcaster to be expanding htere hd and 3d channels until then i wouldnt hold oyur breath on many sky hd channel launches virign could catch them up and then keep up with them there after if they can get the deals done quick enough when channesl are goign to launch

Aren't Sky Sports F1 HD , TCM HD , Animal Planet HD already announced.
http://corporate.sky.com/documents/p...sentation_1011

Both companies will be keen to extend their HD offerings as the consumer seems to be demanding the superior format more and more.

Interesting but factually incorrect , Astra 1N was deployed to 28.2 E to offer interim capacity with a UK spot beam until Astra 2F is launched in Q4 2012 to replace it which will then see Astra 1N locate to 19.2 E. Anyway back to VM and what people want :D

how many hd channesl are on sky jsut now? about 55 so that room for abotu 10 with current capicty on teh sattiletes themself

and even if a channel is annouced unless it got a launch date then it means nothing, there beena few chanenslr ecently annocuing new channesl and then decide not to either because of the encomic climate or because or capicty problem on teh satillete themself

sky will still be launching new hd channesl i was merely pointing out that dnt expect loads any time soon there also more 4 hd which is to go onto astra n1 for fta and few others but that is it a few not laods not until end of 2013/2014 will we see sky surging ahead when tehre laods more capity up in the skys

astra 1n is giving extra capicty, where do i get my info for a extra 10, it is rough guess based on teh transponders available and ses astra have already said there is capity problems hence why 1n is there fora temporary mission to provide the extra capity foa temporay measure, but the extra transponder for 1n have bene rrented by most of the fta broadcaster to release more fta channels ie like channel 5 boquet and giving the likes of ch4 hd a better signal, of course the old transponders could be used but part of thereason for them switching was because the signal form eurobird isnt strong and 2d is at end of life and full

Thanks for clarifying that there is extra capacity with the arrival of Astra 1N ;) no issues then is there anyway as VM is cable lets get back to that ;)
