Consumerism over compassion - Man stabbed to death in Oxford Street..

...and a Disney employee is quoted as saying "We are being quite badly affected, we are unlikely to open again today."

Honestly, you couldn't make it up.

From the BBC.

Very saddened to hear of his death and what a shocking attitude by a Disney employee as in my mind a person's life is far more important then a bloody shop.

An employee at the nearby Disney Store said the company's outlet was "being quite badly affected" and was "unlikely to open again today".
both statements by the employee could be answers to questions ,i wouldn't be too quick to jump to conclusions and read into it too much

Indeed. We don't know what he was answering. He could have been asked "Is the store likely to be opening again?" or "How has this incident affected Business?"

Both are questions that a reporter may well have asked.

I don't see the issue. I think to him it's a indiction of the impact of the death on them, their not opening is a departure from the norm as a consequence of the incident. It's probably the best way he could think to impart the impact it had, even if it seems inconsiderate it was likely not the intent.

You'll forgive me if I struggle to take seriously warnings about the dangers of consumerism and capitalism from a guy with 100Mb broadband, Sky Sports and Movies HD, 3 TiVo boxes and 2 HD boxes.

Must be. I don't even have 5 rooms that could house TVs nor pay anywhere near as much for my subscription.

Murderous tools are murderous tools, they just need an excuse, sometimes not even that.

Yes, I agree - let's get back to the good old days, queuing outside the shops in Moscow whenever fresh food came in....
