Re: how to

Just a quick post whilst I sort out a more up to date set of instructions as the post link Andy has provided is out of date and there is no need to mess around with your HDMI settings Wheelchair. If any one else has an up to date guide before I come back please feel free to post it, :D

Re: how to

Here you go, direct from the instruction manual. Page 11

http://shop.virginmedia.com/content/...V%20HD_LR2.pdf

Copy programmes to your VCR or DVD recorder
1. To do this, press , select V+ Extras, choose Copy to VCR/DVD.

2. Highlight the shows you’d like to record and press to select them. These will appear on the right of the screen. Press once you’re done.

3. Make sure your VCR or DVD recorder is connected to your V+ HD Box by the scart lead (the connection is marked VCR or VCR/DVD).

4. Put your VCR or DVD recorder into record and press on your V+ HD Box remote.

5. While the shows are being copied, you’ll see a red bar showing your recording progress and the shows are locked so they can’t be deleted.

6. If you need to change tapes or discs, press to pause and restart the recording.

7. Press to stop copying.

The transfer is in real time so you may wish to let it do its stuff whist you get on with your life as it is a tad like watching paint dry. :D

Re: how to

thanks mate, my wife bought the dvd recorder a few days ago as a present, I was reading the instructions while my wife set the dvd to virgin v+ box and the t.v set and they all worked ok individuly, but trying to get the DVD to work with the v+box just hasn't worked. I had a few replys about the set up from some of the Forum members. I have a Toshiba TV a VIRGIN V+BOX AND A LG DRT389H DVD RECORDER I must be doing something wrong but no matter what I've tried I can't get them working.I don't no if i'm a bit thick but I can't grasp the answers these good people gave me. any more help will be appreciated thank you all.

Make sure you set the input channel on the DVD recorder correctly, usually L1,L2 or L3

Re: how to

Wheelchair can we backtrack? Have you connected your V+ to your DVD Recorder by a scart cable and have you checked that the socket you are using on the V+ is the one marked VCR?

wheelchair 19-12-2011 19:14

Re: how to

yes done as you have stated and also put a scart lead from tv to vplus box and i have got on the tv is full picture and sound
on the vplus which is number 1 just sound
and on the dvd recorder which is number 2 nothing at all

joglynne 19-12-2011 19:18

Re: how to

You need to transfer a recording off the V+ to the Recorder before you will see anything. Do you have something on the V+ that you have previously recorded?

wheelchair 19-12-2011 19:25

Re: how to

yes i have a few programmes but its not allowing me to see anything

joglynne 19-12-2011 19:32

Re: how to

Have you tried to transfer a programme using the "V+" button on your V+ remote? ie Press V+ button and select V+ Extras, choose Copy to VCR/DVD ... and had you pressed the "record" button on your Recorder Remote?

wheelchair 19-12-2011 19:37

Re: how to

the vplus is now showing a programme i had previously recorded but the dvd recorder is just blank

joglynne 19-12-2011 19:44

Re: how to

You say a programme is showing, that will not normally happen as you will only see the programme playing on the screen if you opted to watch a recorded programme.

Did you select that programme to to be copied on a screen that is headed COPY TO VCR/DVD and did you then follow the instructions to press record on your recorder then see the screen with the red bars showing that archiving was taking place?

wheelchair 19-12-2011 19:46

Re: how to

yes done that but so far nothing on the dvd recorder

joglynne 19-12-2011 19:59

Re: how to

Right so it just seems to be DVD recorder settings that are causing the problem. I have tried to find a copy of your manual but have had no success and reading up on your Recorder model on the net shows that although everyone sings the praises for the recorder itself, the manual is given the thumbs down and the kindest comment says that it is Gibberish:D

So ... it will be trial and error unless you feel up to braving LG Support. Here's the link where you can even get live support on line, or by phone.

http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product...roduct-profile

Do you have more than one scart "input" socket on the recorder if so is there a number on them ie av1 av2 etc?

wheelchair 19-12-2011 20:26

Good luck wc. If you don't get anywhere with the Support Desk we can try again so don't give up if you run up against a brick wall with the manufacturer. Fingers crossed for you.

Please insert the disc that you need to record. please make sure that the disc is compatible to the DRT389H this will be instructed on page 5 of your manual. You will need to press the guide button and scroll on to the channel you want to record by pressing the yellow button once selected press the record button. Once you have recorded this then please view this recording or the listing of the recording by pressing the menu/list button and press play.

Re: how to

That is a very good outcome wheelchair. I am pleased to hear you are sorted.

Thanks for posting LG's response as, reading a lot of the posts on the internet about the problems a fair few owners of the DRT389H LG DVD Recorder have had setting their recorder to work with the V+, I am sure other owners will find the instructions helpful.

Happy viewing in the coming weeks and I hope you continue to look in and see what we are up to on CF in the coming year. :)
