The Lovefilm app is supposed to debut the same day too, giving every [Gold] subscriber a 30 day trial.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Looking at some of the pis in the above links,

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
A friend of mine has had the dashboard for a few weeks but thinks its a step back from the previous incarnation.
The apps do look very promising though. |
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
I've had it a while too.
It looks and feels much more up to date. Metro style is great. Cloud is going to be so handy. |

Gets quite annoying when you start a game and you have to choose a storage device everytime. Notifications are a bit much too, everytime you start a game it tells you that so many people play this game ...as well as telling you how many are currently playing it. |

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
I've had the new dash since the preview started (no TV apps in it though, other than Sky). I think it's a lot better than the current "NXE".

So tomorrow at 5:30pm I'll be downloading the new desktop.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
There is no doubt that it looks great (I use a Windows Phone and its great on there) but it seems more complicated to reach things than it used to be. Maybe if I had a Kinect I wouldn't feel the same but they're still a little too expensive for my liking.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
What does Xbox live Gold membership offer ? And is it worth it ?
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
The main aspect of Gold membership is access to multiplayer gaming with additional extras being early access to demos a few days before everyone else and some other stuff but its mostly for the multiplayer.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Anybody got the update yet?
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Nope, it's been delayed. Major Nelson is going to post some info later.

Just downloaded and it looks OK, will take a while to adjust to the new layout.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
In case anyone does not realise:
(I know some who didn't) You can use the left and right "bumpers" to go change sections left/right... you don't need to scroll all the way to the top and then go left/right. -------------- Cloud saving: Gold only. 512MB storage. With Cloud saves enabled, each time you load a game you'll be asked which storage device you want to use, e.g. HDD or Cloud. Also, you can copy existing saves to the Cloud, and use it as a backup (so long as the save is copyable), or you can move existing saves to it and use the Cloud as the main storage for that game. Within the system files section of local Storage, is a 512MB cache file. All Cloud saves are actually saved here initially, and are then uploaded to the Cloud storage when you shut down the console (with any files on the Cloud which are newer than local downloaded)... It's all kept in sync. So don't worry if you think it's not turned off when you shut it down, it's just using the background download feature to sync the Cloud storage. Apps: (e.g. Sky, Zune, Last.fm etc.) You will need to reinstall these once you have the new Dashboard... possibly also delete the old ones first. ---------- Post added at 23:01 ---------- Previous post was at 22:57 ---------- Oh, and... Got an iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch? Then get the official "My Xbox Live" app for free :) Windows Phone 7? Get the free "Xbox Companion" app which lets you do even more than the "My Xbox Live" app :) |
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
I like the new interface, it's a lot less fussy and more cleanly laid out than the previous version which didn't seem to subscribe to any form of logic or common sense.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
I still haven't got the proper update, I still have the pre-release tab.

Ah, I've been in two previews and that's never happened. Thanks for the link.

how do you access / setup "The Cloud" Is there an Andriod app, as its strange a Apple one is first? |
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
You can either go into settings and copy a save to the cloud or when you load a game up and it asks you to select a storage device, click on the cloud storage option.
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Cheers, I have already uploaded over 100MB of saves up to the cloud.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
I won't be bothering wiith the Lovefilm app.
I hate when you install something via a console and it then tells you to log on and sign up to a service via a computer. "Hey, I'm not AT the computer, I'm not going to get up and go over to the PC, I'll just uninstall your silly app and not bother with it again" |
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
I wanted to see what it was like, but I'm not eligible for the free trial because I had one for the Love Film postal service a couple of years ago. I'm not paying just to try it out, so... deleted.

Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Well I've been waiting for a password reminder since Tuesday so I've given up on LoveFilm.
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Do you guys think that a Netflix app will arrive on XBOX 360 when launched in the UK ?
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Without a doubt. It'll probably be the first device to get it.
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Youtube is now available.
|
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Also MSN, Blinkbox, Muzu, and maybe some others.
[I'm on the preview, but I think they're all on the public release now] Blinkbox looks good, but requires you to first select content on the Blinkbox website before you can then get it on the 360. You can't simply load the app and rent stuff straight from it like you can with Zune. Which IMO makes it a massive fail. MSN is surprisingly good. Check the TV section. Loads of stuff there, including dramas like State of Play and comedies like Bottom and The League of Gentlemen. Whole series! |
Re: New Xbox360 Dashboard Update coming 6th December
Tried the MSN player when it first popped up for the preview programme.
It downloaded okay, but everytime it tried to start it reset the router and booted me off the net :/ |
