Opinions of Spotify offer ?

Nothing official, I'm just interested in peoples opinions of the Spotify offer from VM ..

As I'm sure you know, if you have 30/50/100Mb and jump back into a 12 month contract you get 6 months of free Spotify premium.

Obviously this is ploy to keep customers and attract new customers, but the application is provided by Spotify and works on all devices ..

Personally I think its an excellent idea .. but as there are a lot of people who don't rate VM on these forums I'd love to hear what you think ..

A very good addition to the VM portfolio.

I'm not sure that I would activate it if I was out of contract, but for those of us who have changed, or will change, their package anyway, it's very worthwhile.

Have some votes been removed from this poll? When I looked at the results just now it showed 13 votes with 10 in favour.

I haven't voted because I have no interest in Spotify not because I'm a "VM hater" which from what I can see is what you classify anybody that ever makes any complaint at all about any aspect of the VM service. What I will say is that I'd prefer they devote more attention to keeping their core products working correctly rather than offering add-ons such as this.

If the offer extended to offnet I'd probably be interested. So I guess there's no point in me voting.

How close minded.

A "vm hater" is someone who comments on everything VM saying its rubbish with the single justification that they just don't like VM, so yes, you.

Someone who complains about a fault doesn't fall into this category.

Maybe you should ask the moderators and admins of this forum as they are the only ones that could adjust the poll. I don't see why they would do that or do you think differently ?

As for vm haters well there are a few on this forum i must say. No matter what VM do its just never good enough for them, But they still use the service. If my service was as bad as some say i would move to a provider that they find is suitable and provides what they think is better ?. Its a free market

is upgrading your broadband going to be the only way of getting this offer?

the thing holding me back was the problems many were seeing with the hub.

Love my spotify .Good incentive to recontract for me.Find offline mode on my iphone really convenient, especially for my hols in january. After my free 6 months probably go back down to spotify unlimited but will lose offline mode.

Well it's still 14 +ve and 4 don't want it so either entries have been removed or nopanic is incapable of counting as he said there were 5 no interest votes before I counted just 3.

Hi Nopanic.

I voted no.

This is because I am considering upgrading to the 30 Mbps tier, but simply have no interest in the Spotify offer at all.

It has zero weighting in my decision process.

I do not consider it good or bad, merely irrelevant.

Phil.

Re: Opinions of Spotify offer ?

I voted no. Don't get me wrong I do like listening to music but Virgins music on demand service, 14 music TV channels and 38 radio stations are good enough for me. Also with my own personal collection on iPod, CD and thousands of videos already available for free on Youtube I really am spoiled for choice without Spotify.

This offer is aimed at people who are music junkies. I don't see the value in entering into a new 12 month deal with Virgin to get 6 months free with Spotify. To me it seems like a gimmick offer.

Anyway that's just my personal opinion. I'm sure this deal will be music to the ears of thousands who will snap the offer up.

Milambar 21-11-2011 21:17

Re: Opinions of Spotify offer ?

I've not voted, because there isn't an option I consider appropriate. I will try and explain.

When the offer was first announced, I was interested, so I called 150, and was told (by India) that because already a 30mbit subscriber, I'd have to upgrade to 50mbit to qualify as its only for upgraders or new subscribers.

I then learned via here, that I was fed a load of bovine fertilizer, and I could recontract. However, because I don't feel like arguing with India again over it, I did a bit of research, and learned that I wouldn't be able to copy the music onto my mp3 player. Since the only time I listen to music is when Im out exercising, via my mp3 player, the offer has only minimal interest to me.

I don't say zero interest, because we all know of or can think of ways to... Well, I'll stop there so I don't break the rules.

I just don't fancy having to argue with India over it.

Makes sense, to be honest I don't listen to that much music, but I find having it on hand to search for things quite useful. I don't believe it would make me join VM, but if I was receiving a good service, it would probably make me re-contract.

That's disappointing and a major failing for VM, I'm not going to waste your time talking about feedback and such.

Hopefully someone important is reading this and will make a movement towards better training on new products for offshore agents.

I'm a spotify premium paying member and when I noticed Virgin Media were offering this I decided to sign up to offer...I was suppose to get a call from VM confirming the Spotify offer (they never called) and I never got any emails regarding the Spotify offer. It would appear it got lost somewhere in the system...........
Can't be arsed with it so I'm paying tenner a month :-)

I'm not a hater of VM, having been cabled since NTL days, so long ago ....

However, no, Spotify is not for me at all.

Re: Opinions of Spotify offer ?

There is no point in me voting because I am in 2 minds and together they cancel each vote out!

I already have Spotify and love it. I think its a great idea that Virgin has it.

So I took up the free offer.

I now have a 100mbit modem doing 5mbit and cannot get the free Spotify because of a software fault with MyVirginMedia blocking the registration option (so I'm told).

So at first I thought it was a great idea and now, having aquired a duff broadband service, awaiting software fix for Spotify and another engineer visit for my modem I would certainly vote 'no thanks'.

Yes it is nice to see extra functions like Spotify but i don't think i would use it.
This is however my own personal opinon which does not mean that other family members won't use it either.

I got an email back from Vigin last week saying it was an IT issue and would take 2 weeks to fix! (I've already waited 3 weeks) I said if others can get it straight away then it can't be such a difficult IT issue to fix and they should be able to do something almost immediately. Plus I had to drop down to free Spotify before I could register so I was going to get another 2 weeks of Spotify with ads.

Anyway just this morning I have an email saying I can now register so looks like that saga is over. Thanks for your offer to help.

One further saga to conclude which is the Super Hub issue that I fear is set to run. An engineer is coming tomorrow so I'm not letting him leave until I'm satisfied!

They told me 2 weeks on the phone and the email stated a few weeks so that implies at least 2. To quote from the email:

"I am sorry that you are having problems with Spotify and for any inconvenience this has caused.

We have raised this with IT to get resolved and this should be sorted within the next few weeks."

It does seem to be not much of an offer. That's a deal worth 30 quid, for which you have to sign up for another 12 month contract on their top tier.

If you are happy with VM, you're getting £60 worth of extra just to do what you planned to do anyway ..

30Mb isn't the top tier either ..

I originally started with a mail enquiry but after 3 frustrating replies that basically told me to do what I already knew I ended up calling (reluctantly as I didn't have the time). On the phone they raised a fault and simultaneously I sent another mail because I stopped getting replies, probably because I was turning into an awkward customer. I got a reply from a different person who was more helpful, telling me it would be a few weeks and offered some money back.

The Spotify registration went well and all is working on that front. So I am a happy Spotify customer again.

The engineer came this evening to see why my 100mbit is so bad. He took the attenuator off and replaced some rusty connections outside the house. However the performance is still very bad. His conclusion is that it a network issue. He explained that problems in the Guildford area, that lead onto Farnborough, mean that some fixes need to be done in my local street cabinets in the next 7 days. I don't really understand but I believed him. What else can they do.

Well yes you can upgrade to 30Mbit and get the Spotify offer.

You'll also need a SuperHub to get 30Mbit and you'll need to pay a £30 activation fee

Re: Opinions of Spotify offer ?

I've been using Spotify since the early BETA days, and it has changed alot since then, i think 6 months free is perfect as every company has bills to pay.

And i do see it as being quite popular as everyone loves some kind of music, not everyone plays games (think BT's latest offer) so if you look at it that way then it's a great offer.

The 12 month contract is all good as most things these days come with 18 - 24 month contracts so it's not that bad plus this is just a bonus to a great service :D
