Police Arrest 57 EDL Supporters In London

So the EDL numpties are being arrested in London excellent news, Now normally where ever the EDL numpties are the UAF numpties are close by as well ?

Quote:

Police have arrested 57 English Defence League supporters in London in order to "prevent a breach of the peace".
The group was held outside the Red Lion pub in Westminster, Scotland Yard said.

The arrests came around two hours after wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph to commemorate fallen servicemen, and millions of Britons held a two-minute silence
to remember the nation's war dead.

Re: Police Arrest 57 EDL Supporters In London

UAF weren't there as far as we can tell. They usually only turn up when there is a anti-Muslim march and this doesn't seem to have been that. They probably didn't expect problems from EDL on Armistice Day.

According to The Guardian their intended target were the protesters at St Pauls. Quite why the EDL would have a problem with the Occupy movement isn't clearly explained. Sounds like they have more in common with the Islamic regimes they profess to oppose than they thought.

Huffington Post (who probably got it from The Guardian) as well while PA reports 57. Seems like a mistake from The Guardian.

EDIT: PA now saying 156. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...e50aab69933612

Either way, a good afternoon's work from the boys in blue. I wonder if they'll need to replace all the police station carpets, what with all the knuckle-dragging they've been subjected to today.

Metropolitan Police confirm more than 170 members of English Defence League arrested in order to "prevent a breach of the peace"

Hmm, so earlier this week we had EDL supporters scaling the FIFA head quarters in protest against England not being allowed to have poppies embroidered on their shirts, and now we have them staging a protest on Armistice Day?

Full marks for consistency...

l am not a fan of UKIP Alan but they are not a extremist party and they have every right to march if they want to.

I don't really have a problem with the EDL protesting but they should do so in liaison with the police and in the morning/early afternoon in order to avoid them all being drunk before it kicks off. They also need to weed out those looking for violence.

Doubt they would be out of bed before 11.

Let me just complete that quote

Quote:

EDL member Andrew Wilson told BBC London that "some young idiots have had a fight in a pub".

"Police have charged in there and just gone over the top and forced us all out.

"Then because there are members of the English Defence League in there, they've obviously attributed it to us."
;)

Quote:

He said EDL supporters "came here for a peaceful memorial service and we got attacked in the pub".

"We're called the English Defence League, not the English Let's-Go-Smash-It-Up League," he added.

The Met said there had been "no reported disorder between opposing groups" so far on Friday.

I find it hard to believe they got started on. What kind of moron would start on 160 EDL members? Also why were there so many of them in one place?

Here's why.
Quote:

The EDL said it originally planned to stop members of the Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) group from burning poppies near the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington.
MAC staged an anti-Armistice Day protest last year and said it was planning to do the same again this year.
But on Thursday, Home Secretary Theresa May announced MAC had been banned, and the organisation said it had disbanded. The EDL then urged its members to gather peacefully in Westminster on Friday "to remember the sacrifice of the fallen".

Damien 11-11-2011 19:51

Re: Police Arrest 57 EDL Supporters In London

160 people outside one pub in the middle of London is an odd gathering of people. Especially one with a history of violence. Their claim that someone else started on them doesn't make sense and they were all arrested. A number of papers report they intended to go up to St Pauls as well. We'll wait and see what the police say.

At least the service was over..but frankly if they had just gone home instead of banding together in the pub there probably would have been no bother.Adding booze to the situation could not have helped.

Anti-european? Or simply don't wish to be ruled by others. It's called democracy. Britain has fought several wars(not just the two world wars) to defend the right of this country and others, to not be ruled by invading countries.

why can't we take a bigger role in the eu

if you don't like it, change it not get less involved, that just leaves the problem, not solving it

And the French and the Germans don't think they run the EU. Get us out now while we still have some of our on laws left.

Give us a referendum

They have every right to their political beliefs just as do the BNP.

The problem in banning any organisation is that you risk pushing them underground or into changing their names. Then you won't know who they are or what they may be doing..Better to have a political party in plain view and to refute/ridicule their politics rather than just banning them.

What is referred to as 'taking a bigger role', simply means going along with whatever Berlin and Paris say. It's not just a matter of Britain being told what to do, but others in the EU being told what to do.

Sounds like the ranting of a BNP member to me. They want to ban people from living here who have a right to.

I'm sure there was a topic here, and it isn't Europe.

I believe it was some Neo Nazis being arrested for hanging around a pub claiming to have a quiet drink to celebrate people killed in conflict.
