The return of Rickets
Cases of rickets have risen from 185 in 2001 to 479 in 2009 .I thought that rickets had been virtually wiped out with the use of vitamin supplements but it appears it is making a comeback because children are being smothered in sun screen and not spending enough time outside ,and when they are outside they are either in a car or covered from head to toe in clothing

The issue just needs some basic common sense.Adding vitamins to food cost money and sunshine is free. |

Re: The return of Rickets
This just doesn't apply to older children, babies and toddlers need some gentle sunshine too this being the age when rickets can begin.20 minutes on a summer afternoon with a paddling pool and little clothing several times over the season will be more than enough.
They were recently saying that pregnant women were not getting enough vitamin D and that short periods of arms and legs and head being uncovered to the sun, two or three times a week during the summer should be enough. I personally don't sunbathe but when I am out in the sun, it is only for short 20 minute walks and I don't bother with sunscreen. If I was going to be out for longer I would consider it but apart from the late summer spurt this year I cannot think anyone was at risk of melanoma for not using sunscreen at every opportunity. |

The trouble is to meny antibiotics are being used, and bugs are becoming immume to them. One hospital is using Copper door handles and taps kill 95% of superbugs in hospitals http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...#ixzz1cCzZX28C |
