GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

First trailer comes out next week. I wonder if it'll be as serious as GTA4 or not? Hope it's not set in Vice City or San Andreas, I want somewhere new.

Its San Andreas/ Los Santos

Or GTA V: Vice

They both leaked this year by a verified employee. :(

I pushed it at E3 2011 but it looks like too many people had the same idea and Rockstar pulled it and kept it secret for their own announcement.

Release expectation = May 2012

Bring back the birds eye view of Gta and Gta 2, much better gameplay than the ones that followed, i remember the busses that would take ages to accelerate but had a mental top speed if you didn't crash beforehand

Probably the game I'm most looking forward to.

Thought GTA 4 was poor but loved 3, Vice City and San Andreas.

4 was boring but thought Red Dead Redemption put the fun back into Rockstar open world gaming and hoping for the same sort of fun compared to 4.

Whilst I like this franchise, the last one was, I think, spoiled by the over-use of profanity. Now don't mis-understand me. I'm no prude and can and do swear like a trooper myself sometimes so it's not the use of profanity I object to but the over-use of it.

Yeah, I know. The effing situations and people depicted in the effing last few effing instalments probably would effing swear that much. I just think it detracted from the story rather than added to it.

If they can add a filter for "no blood" or whatever, why can't they do an "alternate sound-track" without the swearing in it :)

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Right, we knew it'd be a March-May release for Xbox 360 & PS3.

Whilst we have no guarantee of a PC port, it usually drops in later on in the year.

Now I was thinking over the past few days, GTA games have a huge lifespan expectancy and it's years between games.

It's no secret the Next Gen consoles will be releasing in line for Christmas 2013.

GTA V will release for the current-gen meaning GTA V will be backwards compatible come the new Gen. However GTA V will only have taken the 360 and PS3 into consideration and if the 8GB memory high processing next-gen console specs are true then where do we go from there. It's a missed opportunity. Could add countless things and make the map essentially huge.

I have reason to believe Rockstar will release an updated version with more content and utilize the next gen machines.

I have tried to get in touch with sources including the person that I got the Los Santos leak from and thus far he's given me nothing.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Of course then that would mean the PC release expected later in the year should be the updated and improved version. Not strictly true as Rockstar would look at the options currently available on PC that weren't so dominant when GTA IV release, speaking of course about the Steam client and Origin.

Has this been done before? Simply put, yes it has. See FIFA 2007 released for the Xbox & PS2 then later re-done and released on the Xbox 360.

Note also it could be a quick sequel (addon) similar to the ballad of gay tony but released for Next-gen etc.

Reason for me believing this is again simple. Are Rockstar going to support and release DLC for a game on a console that will be past-tense come Christmas... No they are not. Why release a game that after Christmas will stop selling... exactly. Again the Blu-ray space and power of the consoles mean the potential could be huge.

FIFA 2014 will also follow this route (Don't see why seen as though it releases later in the year and they could just hold off for the console release)

Should look at the comments on the Rockstar website. People are moaning saying they pre-ordered for no reason and that they want free DLC cause of the wait. I don't get why people didn't expect this. As good as the games are that Rockstar make, they never release them when they say that the games will be released.

Whilst it could be expected that it would be delay, Rockstar only said within the last few months it would be a spring release? It seems rather sudden they would change their mind :(

Not surprised at all at the release date nor am I at all bothered as some people seem to be as I'd rather wait for a more perfected game than have it rushed out full of bugs like so, so many games are now.

I'd imagine that the next gen console cycle will also have been revealed by than if all the recent leaked information on specs is anything to go by.

I nearly preordered mine from HMV or Play.com.

HMV is questionable if it will be there in September, and even if it would be honoured.

Then theres Play, which is stopping its customer side of the business.

Good points Hom3r but I usually find that neither of them have the best deals anyway tbh. Lucky your other choice wasn't Blockbuster :erm:

Grainger games have been decent if you use their price match system where they'll beat the cheapest you can find by a £1. Not brilliant but I found some sites with cheap deals and got them to match a few time before to get some games much cheaper than anywhere else.

I think they take the money when placing the order though so not great for everyone and I've have heard a few stories about them although I've personally not had a problem with them yet.

Shopto used to be my go to place as they used to beat most online retailers prices and almost always delivered before release but their prices have been a bit rubbish this last year.

I usually end up getting some kind of good deal from the supermarket websites like Tesco or ASDA ect ect normally with a discount code or something similar.

Hotukdeals is a good website to keep an eye on as I end up finding most of my gaming deals though them now.

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

I agree, it makes a nice change to see a company that would rather delay releasing the game to make sure all bugs are fixed, because if they released it with bugs in people would moan and say why don't they delay releasing game until bugs are fixed.

As usual, a company is in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation. Wonder how much Amazon are asking for a pre order copy? Might have to save up and get it. Just looked, £39.99 so will have it pre ordered by end of February.

Fifa have done something like this before with Fifa 07.
Even though the XB360 version had much improved graphics, the game was IMO considerably lacking features and was inferior to the old Xbox version.

But saying that, even though next gen consoles will most likely be revealed somehime this year, I doubt we'll see any on the shelves until Q2 2014 at the earliest. There are too many AAA titles due to be released this year on the current platforms.

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Whether they'll admit it or not, Microsoft and Sony are scared GTA V will hurt the release of the next gen consoles due to only being available on current gen machines, the same applies vice versa but the first is more likely.

This is a game that certainly packs that kind of punch and will likely break every entertainment launch record out there and continue into the year.

I would think as it now just 3 months away from release for the PS3 and 360 it would be too late to start trying to develop it for the new gen consoles. Hoping it is as good as the trailers make it sound and look, as I will be disappointed if it is a total flop.

Saying that, Rockstar games seem to be unusual in that they wait for the errors and bugs to be ironed out, unlike EA Sports who released FIFA 13 with bugs galore in it. I've never had a bug in a GTA game, or indeed with any Rockstar game.

We don't want a port on next-gen though.. what's the point. No backwards compatibility granted but I'm not paying £50 for the same game twice. The PC version will release 6mths-1year after the console release. It's a port no doubt about that.

If GTA V released on next-gen I actually want to see the technology being used, the potential is huge and unless Rockstar have been secretly developing a NG version then I can't see them doing it in the space of a year considering the process from GTA IV - V. I originally believed Rockstar had been developing a NG version but it seems not.

Neither? You can just wait until the guides show up on Youtube for free ;)

Someone has taken a picture of the official map in the strategy guide.

I hope Amazon don't have any problems with the pre-orders. Good luck to anyone who hasn't pre-ordered trying to find a copy on release day!

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

I ordered mine from Amazon... free "release day delivery" using 1st class RM.

I read elsewhere that the publishers are insisting that no retailer sends any copies out any earlier than Monday the 16th...

Now, that should be fine for 1st class to still arrive on Tuesday (my copy of Diablo 3 for the 360 was sent last Monday and arrived on the Tuesday), but I am slightly concerned :erm:

My preorder is amazon also - I've never had an amazon pre-order turn up late (I have had a couple turn up a couple of days before release day though :))

My last pre-order was Splinter Cell: Blacklist and that turned up on time :)

Hope mine turns up (Amazon). Per ordered on 30th October 2012 so months ahead of time. But we all know what Royal Mail are like

So who will be queuing at midnight at GAME stores next week then? Me, as I'm relying on Tesco will be down there for 8 am ready to buy the game and have a bloody great day playing it.

Think the first thing to do will be to drive around the place see how massive it really is. Maps look like it will be massive, and supposed to be as big as San Andreas but want to see for myself.

Introducing the first gameplay leak.
NSFW

This may be removed, huge GTA V leaks are appearing all over the web every couple of minutes from an anonymous source.

edit: A user named 'lolpancakeslol' from Reddit appears to have a copy of the Xbox 360 version and is leaking footage by the minute.

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Apparently though as soon as the footage is being put online they are removing it. Wouldn't like to be in that person's shoes.

BTW don't forget to update your payment details on Amazon if they've changed since pre-ordering. Don't want any tears on Tuesday.

Got my HDD upgrade and transfer cable for the xbox ordered (I currently have a 20 gig HDD on my xbox). I got home to find a little red "We tried to deliver but missed you" note, which goes with the one I apparently got the other day (but haven't seen and can't find) so hopefully there are two packages at my local post office for me. Sadly, I can't get down to my local post office during opening hours before Saturday.

Also got GTA5 on pre-order at Amazon. Sadly I can't take time off for another few weeks now, as we are entering a period that's normally extremely busy.

Ok, hands up who didn't update their payment details? That would be me. Luckily. Phoned amazon at about 06:20am this morning and it now sorted :D

Its leaked and a lot of people playing it on iextreme firmware have been flagged and their Live accounts will be banned and they do not even know it yet

Ugh, so Amazon post it before Monday and every other retailer waits till Monday? Something tells me I'm not gunna have it till Wednesday. I hope Shopto post it tomorrow.

Yeah, naturally something will give and likely many people will receive on Monday, always happens with high profile games. I'd advise strongly against playing it till Tuesday though.

Whoop....mine is dispatching now also...however my Splinter Cell said that until it was dispatched 2 days before release

My local Tesco said they have the game sitting out the back, and might launch it before Tuesday. Basically, a case of come and see each day. As I have things to do all day Tuesday, if I cannot get it until Tuesday afternoon, then I will be on it all Tuesday night.
