Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
For some time now I've been fed up with Windows 6.5 on my HTC HD2 and have been wanting to change my phone but it's been a long wait for my £30 contract to expire at the end of January 2012.
So I was very suprised to get a call from Virgin mobile offering me a downgrade on my tarriff and a new phone. So tomorrow I will be having a Samsung Galaxy S2 delivered on what the advisor said is an offer for today only for £22.95,300 mins,Unlimited texts and 1gb data. I'm quite chuffed with this offer as it is £40.99 on the Virgin Media website. |

I want a call

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
If you fancy a play you can install various versions of Gingerbread Android on the HTC HD2 very easily . It can also run Windows phone 7. So once you are happy with the SGII it might be worth having a play :-) The HTC HD2 is one of the best most versatile smartphones ever released :)

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2

Im torn between the SII and the iphone. SII is winning at the minute as the mrs and other family members are on virgin, free calls from the house phone too and the fact that the SII can play .mkv and .avi files. Records in 1080p too and the camera is 8MP, to match it I would have to get the iphone 4S and we all know its alot more expensive. |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
I was out of contract. I got it by just walking into one of the shops. It's an offer available to any customer with XL landline phone package (who hasn't already taken the £8 mobile discount already). If you are on M or L phone you get £5 off so can get it for £25.99
Had planned to keep my Desire and downgrade to a SIM only tariff until after the Android 4.0 launch event but got impatient ;) |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
As a bit of a "thickie" where mobiles are concerned, how do you get all the stuff (pictures, music, videos etc) transferred to your new phone?:dunce: oh, and the email settings!

I have also got the same £22.99 deal and think it is great value for money. The phone is awesome! I previously had the Nokia N900 which I did like a lot but this thing is brilliant!

You get 1GB worth of internet with the £22.99 deal thought (and can upgrade to 5GB for an extra £5 a month if you want) |

The only way wifi would cost is if you're using a hotel hotspot for example where you pay for access eg-£2 for 4 hours. |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Or any of the so-called open wifis, such as The Cloud, etc.

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Should be able to, yes.
If you did you'd also get the 3 month Spotify offer Virgin are now doing for Mobile customers |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Thanks fot that.Got the 12 month offer :) when VM was doing it.
Is Spotify unlimited streaming on VM mobile for the 24 month contract? |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Called up to complain about getting charged for data, got a phone call back offering early upgrade. Got a galaxyns2 also. Idea was to sell it and use my 3GS or get an iphone4 but starting to get attached to it. All the apps I use are there, it's faster, thinner and has a better screen.

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
I have had my Samsung Galaxy for the past 6 weeks or so and love it BUT I am unable to receive or send MMS and Picture Messages.
Having reported this as a problem on the 31 October I am still waiting for the techies to get back to me. I have mailed them twice as a reminder and all I get it an auto generate e-mail saying that they may take up to 5 days to get back to me. When I reported via the 789 help line the lady I spoke to was extremely helpful but even with all the suggestions she couldn't resolve it so asked me to stay on the line and wait for one of the techies to speak to me. 45 minutes later I gave up. Very disappointed with this support. Up until now Virgin has been very good but since I had to pay to update my phone to the Galaxy, because my contract had another year to run, I am not happy that this phone cannot do what my old phone was able to do. I am not sure if this is a problem with the phone or the mobile networrk. I do get texts telling me to go to the Virgin Mobile message site but that too is now down so still cannot access the picture or MMS messages. An additional problem is that I have a specific notification sound set up for my texts and that doesn't work either. Now I think that is related to the phone. WOW - within seconds of my posting the above I got a call from Virgin who immediately put me in contact with a techie and all is now sorted. In case anyone else has the same problem - check to see that your Package Data (Menu, Applications, Setting, Wireless and Network, Mobile Networks . Thank you Virgin techies I am now a happy bunny |

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
when will virgin allow it though????
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Do virgin need to allow it as the S2 is not locked to the virgin network .
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Virgin will have to test it before rolling it out.
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
If another network released it before virgin could you not use the other networks sim and upgrade through them.

Thanks for info, so even though phone is not locked to the virgin network if i say gave it to my son who is with O2 to he would have to upgrade to ICS through virgin.

However it wouldn't happen until Virgin approved the update for the phones they have sold |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Do virgin allow updates?
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Of course they do.
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Why am I still on 2.3.4? What's other virgin s2 owners on?
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
2.3.4
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Zzzzzzzzzz c'mon virgin!
|
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Mine upgraded to 2.3.4 a couple of weeks ago, just after Samsung released 2.3.6. Which would need testing through VM before releasing. That may not happen though as VM may go straight to testing ICS as that's due out in Q1 2012.

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
I see the Samsung Galaxy S2 is no longer available on Virgin. A mate at work is gutted as his contract is coming to an end and he was going to get it.
Galaxy W and Ace are on there though. |

Is why I hate carrier approved updates complete with unnecessary bloatware and go for a pure Google/Android experience every time.

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
What is the best deal I'm likely to get on a Galaxy s2 at the moment please. Not currently a Virgin mobile customer, but we do have Virgin Media accounts both for home AND for the business.
I've had a look at the published tariffs, Do Virgin mobile negotiate deals, or are the tariffs fixed? |
Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Customer deals can be seen via this page http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing...hly-offer.html

Re: Very happy with new deal-Samsung Galaxy S2
Ive got two issues with this phone echo and rebooting anyone else gave them.
Echo is where youre on a call and u can hear own voice second phone randomly reboots when wifi or maybe sdcard in use. Samsung claimed issued fixed in 2.4.5 and 2.4.6 but virgin havent released either if these updates on researching more neither these updates address the random rebooting and now samsung claim 4.0 address both issues out march. But i have no faith in virgin will release these updates and wont be stuck with a second replacement phone after reporting this to customer services on 5th day as u have 14 days to return so ive done my bit im waiting for update a call back im now on 9th day if it goes passed 14 tough ive reported my issue on 5th day of owning it. If no joy its going back ill either ask for loan phone till they sort these issues out that samsung are fobbing me off with fixed in update after update sorry not buying it. Ive sent msg to vm twitter team to vm facebook to contact at ceo team.....when wed comes ive thrown in towel and change phone to htc sensation or move provider that has the current update on the s2 see if its fixed on that. |
