Re: ipod touch help

Could you be a little clearer about what the actual problem is?

Lack of space?
Inability to play certain file formats?
Or something else?

Re: ipod touch help

Well, you get more space by deleting some of the stuff that's on it ... Videos need quite a lot of room.

Re: ipod touch help

The 6GB is what the formatted memory is when you buy it, like a 32GB one is about 28GB. You can't get that space back.

Why don't you just stream it from your PC to the Apple TV - that's what I do...

Re: ipod touch help

Re: ipod touch help

Not being rude or anything, but have you tried the Apple website or the manual?

If you have it in iTunes and the ATV connected to your network it should just show in the menus of the ATV.

Re: ipod touch help

Airplay (playing stuff from your iOS device to the appletv) only works with certian things like music and some filetypes in the inbuilt video player.

I think in iOS 5 they're going to allow you to airplay the entire screen from an ipad to an appleTV but not sure if they also plan to implement this in Ipod touch/Iphone.

A 32GB drive is not about 28GB, it's 32GB. You don't lose any space from formatting. My 32GB card is 32.2961 GB, after formatting it's 32.2959 GB. Formatting has nothing to do with the capacity "loss".

Suppose you think LMGTFY is really clever don't you? I didn't need to know the answer, BTW 'cus I knew what the answer was. And your answer is not correct.

As not to re-invent the wheel, I've ripped this from this site / answer.

Manufacturers sell the drive based on 1GB=1000MB, 1MB=1000kb 1KB=1000bytes, etc.

Hard drives are formatted like this: 1GB=1024MB, 1MB=1024kb, 1KB=1024bytes, etc.

So you're not really losing anything, it's just deceptive marketing. So *I think* 1GB actually equals 1073.741824MB, but I probably did the math wrong (1024(b)x1024(k)x1024(m)). So for every GB you lose ~74MB. Works out for me, I've got 2 120GB drives, using 74MB/GB "loss" I should have 8880MB less when formatted, Windows shows it as (roughly) 111GB.

Re: ipod touch help

Hard drives are not formatted like anything. So sorry, you're wrong again, and you clearly don't know the answer.

Windows displays GiB as GB, that's it. It's not deceptive marketing at all, just because you've been roped into an incorrect way of measuring things by Microsoft. And it still has NOTHING to do with formatting.

Yes, you definately did the math wrong. 1GB actually equals 1000MB. 1GiB equals 1024MiB. End of.

P.S. Read the link I actually posted, which explains what formatting is, since you don't seem to understand.

Wrong. No I didn't - as I said I ripped it from that page - it was the poster there that did the maths - not me.

You really are very antagonistic. All your posts have an air of attention seeking.

And with that - I'm out of this thread as I don't want a pointless agrument.

I'm not the one who butted in and claimed someone else was wrong with completely ridiculous and unfounded statements. I stand by what I said while you blame someone else for your errors.

Please. Don't butt in unless you have a clue what you're talking about. And don't blame me for the "pointless agrument" you started.
