Hello I have a Virgin Media Super Hub downstairs and my P.C. is upstairs with a dongle attached to it making it wifi ,my T.V. is downstairs how can I stream from my P.C. to my TV downstairs is it hard to do hope you can help as I dont have a clue cheers guys take care

If members know what TV you have (exact make and model number) then they might be in a better position to help you

It's possible, but you'll need to buy some kit, and I'm not sure if streaming will be the best option. First, you'll need some kit that allows you to play digital files on your tv. I have one of these. It's wifi ready, in that it'll take a dongle to hook up to your network, but I'm not convinced that's the best option. It's likely to stutter if your network can't cope. It also has two USB ports so you can hook up an external USB drive (which is what I do). Take the USB drive up to your computer, hook it up and copy the content over, then run down, and plug it into the player and watch it on your telly.

I've got 200 odd films on a 1tb drive hooked up to the WD TV. It's only half full :)

what I want to do is watch footie from my P.C. on my T.V. if its possible but I dont know where to start if its to difficult then I had better leave it be

How are you watching the footie on your pc?

If you're using anything like sopcast or other p2p live streaming service, you will need to physically connect your pc to the telly, which clearly won't work unless you're willing to run a very long cable.

I hear that Sky Sports do a footie service delivered straight to your telly though. ;)

I am watching LJs live sport on my P.C. and herd that people are streaming it to there T.V. I just wanted to do the same if possible cheers

I don't know about the legalities of JS sports, but streaming something like that to your tv is possible if you hook up your pc directly to the telly and select it as an alternative AV source.

I usually use a laptop showing the streamed event for this. If you have a desktop on another floor, it's going to be difficult. You'll need a very long av cable. Or a laptop.

Either way, the content is unlikely to be full screen on the TV. In my case, it's usually half the TV screen, but still better than watching a computer screen.

You stream the footie to your laptop as you would on your pc. Then, depending on how your laptop and TV are equipped, you plug your laptop into the TV and select the computer as input on your tv.

I use one of these

With a separate cable for the audio.

You may also need to 'clone' the desktop on the laptop in order for it to show on the tv.

Sorry, but I don't understand what you don't understand. It seems pretty clear to me?

Stream on the laptop, and connect the laptop to the TV using a cable that is appropriate for the connections provided on your laptop and TV.

That laptop has a HDMI port on the left side so if your TV also has a HDMI port you can run the TV as you would a normal computer monitor off the laptop. All you'll need is a HDMI cable.

You've already said "I am watching LJs live sport on my P.C."

I don't love my footie so have never felt the need to visit that site, but surely you can just continue doing what you were doing, but now using your laptop?

I agree. But he's gone from saying he's watching "LJs live sport" on a PC upstairs, to asking what site to use on a laptop he's bought. That the laptop is connected to a TV is immaterial to what site he's streaming the football from.

Maybe I should have added "connected to your TV" to the end of my last sentence.

Sorry I missed that request.

Can I remind members that what you watch on your laptop is your own affair but personally I won't answer such questions relating to where to watch live football streams especially as I don't think there are any legal streams for high level games. If you want to watch such games then get a sky sports/espn subscription or use google and find the sites yourself as you shouldn;t be involving others in your own dodgy viewing habits.

£500.00+ for a laptop to watch poor quality (and probably illegal) streamed footy on your tv ...... surely a sky sports subscription would be cheaper
