Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forum to post this poll in but I was wondering if there's any interest for Virgin to start carrying the iPhone and/or iPad on their mobile network and including them in their mobile bundles?
I thought seeing as they're making an app for Tivo to be controllable from the iPad and I imagine there's quite a healthy demand for Apple's products, would it make sense for them to make them available? What do you guys think? |
Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Yes l don't see why not.

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Not fussed personally as i don't have/want the ipad or iphone due to their high prices.

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
I would like it but I imagine apple don't leave much room for profit

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Not a phone that I would go for and I think Apple have to much of a monopoly with this phone and they know it especially with it having a special sim.

Would like to know why VM aren't selling these??

I think Virgin will get the iphone but not until the iphone 5 is released tho no point offering the 4 when 5 is very close to been released.

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Maybe Apple, who are very particular with their branding, don't want to be associated with Virgin Media. It's possible Apple don't feel that Virgin customers fit into their usual target audience.

As for the "special" (micro) SIM: That's not stopped all five main UK networks + Tesco Mobile from supplying the iPhone 4. |

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Well going off the poll results so far, it seems that most people are in favor of Virgin selling the iPhone at least. I can see why most people aren't that bothered about the iPad as it is quite pricey and not much use as a phone but I have an interest in it as I make my own music and there are some fantastic apps out there for it (for example Korg's iElectribe which is essentially a virtual ESX-1 sampler/drum machine for just £11.99 when a proper hardware version costs about £300, absolute bargain!).
I know that there is a lot of debate over whether the iPhone is any better than other smart phones out there but I think Apple's app service is what draws me to them more and more. I only have an iPod Touch at the moment but I do use quite a few apps so I have been tempted to get an iPhone but have been mainly put off by the price. I keep getting mailings from Virgin with various mobile offers and free handsets and they all seem pretty good but I think if Virgin offered the iPhone/iPad then I would be more likely to take them up on an offer. |
Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
I assume if Virgin did offer Apple iPad's they would be the 3G versions with some kind of contract as opposed to wifi only versions.

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Never going to happen.
The amount that Apple are asking for the iPhone, would take up Virgin's entire handset budget |

Think about that. If you want Cable TV, or digital TV and can't have Freeview or anything satellite based, you pretty much have to go to Virgin. There are only a couple of competitors, and they aren't available in 99% of the areas covered by Virgin. If you want a smartphone, the iPhone is not the only one. Even if you want an iPhone, as Matt says, you can get it from most of the major networks. Don't get me wrong, I am not attacking Virgin. Just pointing out that Apple is actually pretty far from being a monopoly. |
Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Would rather they invested in the new Blackberry Range and keeping stock of top end Android phones... not a lover of Apple products myself so no loss to me if Virgin never stock them. I they do then I cant see it until the iPhone 5 though.

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
I have a blackberry for work and have just joined virgin mobile to buy my first ever smart phone for personal use. I cannot now understand how blackberry sell any units!
|
Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
Blackberry sell units because their premium phone range is excellent. The Bold in particular is superb and coupled with a Playbook makes it a great companion. If you need it for work and rely on email then theres nothing like a Blackberry.
Its horses for courses though... a Blackberry does everything I need, has great battery life, amazing camera, tethers for free 3g on the move, has all the apps I need etc. ---------- Post added at 15:52 ---------- Previous post was at 15:51 ---------- Quote:

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
What people need to understand is, Virgin mobile are not a premium handset provider. They will only ever have one, maybe 2 top of the range handsets. Their focus & strategy is not aimed at that end of the market

Re: Should Virgin Start Supplying The iPad/iPhone?
I think Disney are blocking the Virgin Media / iPhone deal. Apparently not only do they have a monopoly on involving Virgins and Apples, but Apple take at least 6 months extra to produce a Snow White product with a decent sleep time.

I suspect that one was much funnier in your head / spoken out loud :)
