Your box doesn't have a working return path. You need to give VM a call to get it fixed.

Re: We're sorry this service is unavailable right now. Please try again later.

I was wondering does this happen to every1 on there first time

I mean does every1 have to fone VM to get these services

Re: We're sorry this service is unavailable right now. Please try again later.

No, you have (or had) a fault.

wazz 10-09-2011 11:26

Re: We're sorry this service is unavailable right now. Please try again later.

No I think every1 needs call vm to get these services.

Like I said I hav bin getin that MSG since 2009.

The only fault I ever had was around January/febuary/march 2011

spiderplant 10-09-2011 11:34

Re: We're sorry this service is unavailable right now. Please try again later.

In that case you've had the fault since 2009. If you were meant to ring to get it activated, it would say so in the message - like what happens if you try to tune to a channel that you don't subscribe to.

Give the faults department a call and they will fix it for you.

Re: We're sorry this service is unavailable right now. Please try again later.

You get the message because you have a fault.

Re: We're sorry this service is unavailable right now. Please try again later.

When I get the message it usually is due to a service fault in the area and also shows with a flashing green led on the VM box. Also happens all too often with the Computer BB supply when it also shows a breakdown with the Modem flashing and total loss of connection, sometimes for some hours. VM do offer a credit when these breakdowns occur, if you speak to them, and who knows a call to them to report the TV problem may also be worthwhile.

I did read it, but it's my job to make sure customers get everything they are paying for.

You should try On Demand - you might like it. :)

Wazz, you have a fault. If you want it fixed, then call VM and they will arrange a tech (if needed), otherwise just leave it as it is.

I am not sure I understand the problem. You have been told by members of VM staff that you have a fault, yet you appear to think they are wrong and you need to get the service activated.

You don't need to get on demand activated. If you did, the box would not only tell you, it would tell you how to do it.

As for not wanting on demand, that's your choice. But I say try it, you might like it. However, even if you don't want it, I don't understand why you are paying for a service you are not receiving, especially when they'll fix it for free.

It is a fault and that is why you are being advised to call up and get it fixed, now if you choose to ignore that advice from 3 Virginmedia Staff then the is little point in you continuing to post here.:confused:

It will fix your other issues though regardless of you using ondemand or not, it is your box not talking back to Virginmedia correctly.

No Return Path

A return path is a two-way connection (upstream from the stb and downstream from VM), VOD and interactive need this to work, otherwise it's just downstream data and broadcast.

In simple terms... the stb sends information to VM and VM send information to the stb. :)

Are you on L or XL tv? There are loads of kids stuff on VOD too, you are paying for it, so best get calling VM and get it fixed ;)

I find your posts quite confusing. You ask why you are getting these prompts, you are told you have a fault, yet you won't fix it. Then you tell us you don't even watch TV!

You indicate that there are children in your house. Even if you don't watch On Demand (or indeed, TV) yourself, don't you think you should fix it for them?

Very strange.

No need to be rude to the OP... I'm not a fan of "txt spk", but I've learned to tolerate it.

The post was not meant to be rude,I find it both lazy and lacking respect for other people trying to read such posts, this is a forum and not a series of SMS texts between "mates" and should be treated as such if the Op requires serious help with issues in my opinion,if you still think I am being rude then so be it.
