It can come whenever it wants, just so long as it does actually come! Getting a bit fed up with grey skies now, it's been like this for two months.
|
Re: Weather
Seems to be one extreme to the other
A few days ago it was rather chilly, very windy and very wet, today on the other hand, there's very little wind, it's boiling and no clouds. Apparently it's 21C here, it feels like 30c. |

Re: Weather
The temp gauge in my car said 32c, and it feels hotter.
A mate of mine is laughing at how cold it is here ATM he's had 55c (in Dubai) |
Re: Weather
I'm on the computer down stairs. Can't stay in the loft, it's way too hot.
|
Re: Weather
Have a few ice pools as l find they are better for cooling down then some other things.

Gonna be moist one in me sheets today.. |
Re: Weather
Yes it was humid last night and l could not get to sleep.
|
Re: Weather
Bring on the snow!
|
Re: Weather
Is it bad that I managed to sleep fine last night; and I still have the winter duvet on my bed LOL
10 am and around 24*c |
Re: Weather
My room was at nearly 30c last night. I find it best to sleep around 18c.
I'm going to get the fan out tonight. |

26C here is Manchester.
I have just noticed that the East of England has a Met Office warning in place for later today with predictions of heavy rain, hail and possible flash flooding. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/..._warnings.html |

Cloudy but the temperatures still raising. Strangely i'm not feeling it anymore |
Re: Weather
Possibly cos the humidity's going down?
|
Re: Weather
This was not the day to be surveying houses and having to climb into roofspaces :(
|
Re: Weather
27C and slightly overcast - lovin' it!
|
Re: Weather
17 and breezy in darkest Cheshire. Just need it to drop another couple of degrees and it'll make for a nice comfortable rehearsal this evening. No fun being stuck in a small-ish windowless room with no aircon when it's 20 odd degrees outside.
|
Re: Weather
A balmy and sticky 24C here in my part of the West Midlands
|
Re: Weather
It's probably mid 20's here today (Near Winchester)
my scale of temperatures below 10C = cold 10 - 20 = cool 20 -30 = warm 30+ = hot I like it hot as long as the humidity stays low. A civilised climate would never drop below 20C. |
Re: Weather
How hot have we been then?
Observed at 17:00, Monday 27th June Weather White CloudTemp (°C)27 Wind (mph)South Westerly9 Humidity: 55% Pressure: 1009mb, rising Visibility: Excellent Observation station: Emley Moor (Lat: 53.617 | Lon: -1.667) 8.86 miles / 14.25km from Barnsley |

Re: Weather
I run a permanent temperature at least a couple of degrees above average so guess I am more sensitive to hot weather but my ideal world would have daytime temp of 23C with nights dropping down below 12C. Oh and any rain must fall between 2am - 4am with any daytime clouds being of the small white fluffy variety.
|
Re: Weather
Yesterday: forecast of possible heavy showers. Take rain jacket to work. Result: dry all day.
Today: forecast of possible heavy showers. Forget to take rain jacket to work. Result: thunder, lightning and stair rods. Hope it clears by the time I have to walk to the station! Still, at least the temperature and humidity have improved. |
Re: Weather
Its just overcast and warm here today.
Also stupidly low humidity for england atm https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2011/06/3.png It's rare to see it below 70% in the west-mids |
Re: Weather
Cloudy but bright here ... 17 degrees, quite a scorcher compared to recent weeks.
I'm off out to clean the windows. The outdoor jobs have been fairly piling up lately. The grass needs cutting as well, but the lawn is such a swamp right now I'm going to have to leave it at least until the weekend. |
Re: Weather

Re: Weather
No such considerations here ... lots of lawn to do but lots of petrol to power the mower also :D
The windows are the worse job, we have a lot of bats in the walls and they make a bit of a mess of the windows throughout the summer. |
Re: Weather
Rumbling thunder for about 3 hours today in Worthing, had a breif powerspike which shut off the TV and media player when we were watching Lord of the rings, grr :P
And it's hot/humid, if only I could move to Scotland. |
Re: Weather
It's now overcast and 16C here with a strong breeze and there have been a few attempt's at rain LOL
|
Re: Weather
I have blue skies and a balmy 20C. French doors open and listening to the neighbours cutting their grass. Very soothing.

Re: Weather
I know i'm bumping an old thread but this summer is turning in to something quite remarkable.
So much sunshine over the past 2 months and looks like there's no end in sight. 28C already up here this morning when most summers we're lucky to get over 20C, it's glorious. Could do with a day or two of rain though as the grass is starting to go very brown but doesn't seem like that's going to happen for at least a week. |
Re: Weather
The weather in Glasgow is crazy hot right now. Expected to reach 32 degrees today.
|
Re: Weather
Yep - an occasional thunderstorm would be good - during the work day so not to spoil the weekend.

Re: Weather
It was 28c in my office at 7:30 this morning.
Our building as 1 ft thick walls so absorb any heat and radiates it into the building. |
Re: Weather
Our area is a heat island. Apparently due to the surrounding red bricks that catch and release heat. So when the forecasts say 30c we easily get 35c+.
And we have been. And it was OK until today when humidity spiked for some reason. ---------- Post added at 20:59 ---------- Previous post was at 20:57 ---------- 1976, I remember all the UK newspapers gong on "Phew! What a scorcher!" whilst I was serving with the RAF in Cyprus where it was consistently 10c hotter. And often more. |
Re: Weather
Just did 10K interval on the treadmill at the gym and had a quick swim. Probably sweated less than I would have in the garden. It’s still 26 out here.
|
Re: Weather
Its 25.4C where Im sitting right now.
I remember 1976 well, I was at school, and boy was it hot in those classrooms. |
Re: Weather
Phew! What a scorcher: We've just hit 29C in the shade on the North side of the house. Hoping for a sea breeze to kick in.

Re: Weather
Well I pray to the God who reigns. Bit cloudy here today and temperature right down. I like it hot and sunny but not the humidity that besets us in the UK when it is hot.
Also our houses are built for the heat, we like to keep heat in not out and we don't have vernadas (stoeps) around our houses where we can sit outside in the shade which would be nice. Finally "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" is all too true - don't complain about not being able to dig your garden in the afternoon - get up earlier, do the work in the morning, then siesta in the heat of the day and finish off later. If we are having med style weather, switch as you can to a med style time table. |
Re: Weather

Nonetheless, your advice is very sound, apart from the bit that assumes praying actually works! |
Re: Weather
We have a God that reigns? Try telling that to the aetheists and agnostics also those of other religions who have different Gods.
|
Re: Weather
I hope we get a break in the warm weather soon and get some rain. It's been weeks now.
