Sky GO channel listing at launch.

Sky have released a list of "LIVE" channels and Ondemand content that will be available on the new free Sky GO service. This as well as the TV service price freeze really is good news for Sky customers.

I doubt it

In August, Sky Go will become available to non-Sky TV customers for a monthly subscription price ranging from £15 to £40. Sky Player will remain available on Xbox Live and Freeview service Fetch TV, but will rebrand as just 'Sky'.

Apparently you can register 7 devices but only two can be used at the same time.

Just heard that the fancy sky go app for the ipad is now not going to be ready till the start of the new football season. The asa should be asking Sky why they have been advertising it as ready to go from the 6th of july. I have access to sky go and the forums and boy there are some not happy users.

From there forum

Quote:

Hi everyone,

Sky Go will launch on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in time for the start of the new Barclays Premier League season and we want to ensure that we deliver the best experience for our customers.

To get ready create your Sky iD username and password at www.skygo.com/signup and visit www.skycom/skygo to register and be one of the first to know when the Free Sky Go App is ready to download.

Don’t forget, Sky Go is now live on laptop, PC and Mac so you can enjoy over 30 live TV channels and thousands of hours of on-demand TV in line with your subscription - absolutely free.

We appreciate that some customers were expecting this to be available earlier and the frustration the delay has caused. We thank you for your patience.

They have been advertising Sky Go the service being available with PC being the only working platform. It states in advertisements in small(er) print, that iOS devices are coming soon has has done so for however long.

They released the app on the 6th and then withdrew it almost immediately

Very strange, downloaded the app a few minutes ago and now it has disappeared from the app store.

That's just human error, they have never promoted Sky Go for mobile devices being available at any given date, only "soon".

I would rather have a fully working device than rush something through , the sky go app will be available on iOS devices and Android I believe you will also be able to use at over 4500 wifi locations which I believe include McDonalds.

All companies list this when its free regardless. Phone companies put 'free WiFi' in their phone contracts despite the fact its free for public/customer use regardless of what they're supposedly offering.

But with your other point, yeah, its better for them to release a polished, working product than rush it out when one of the main programs that the app is used for is currently off air.

Sky have bought "cloud" the company that provides a lot of free wifi spots eg-McDonalds, hotels, airports etc. I think you'll soon need a Sky id to use it.

They bought them in January 2011.

Indeed they did with a view to allowing sky customers to use their service away from home. McDonald's have contracts with the cloud so you will not need to be a Sky customer to use free WiFi there , however I agree with charlie your sky id could well be a possible way to login .

Sigh, i am waiting for it on android.

But even then, my mobile has only 500mb per month, so likely only to be used for odd games.

Colin , Sky bought http://www.thecloud.net/

So if your mobile has Wifi and your in a place were they use The Cloud you'll be able to watch Sky Go , example taking the kids to McDonalds you'll be able to watch the match as they use The Cloud for Wifi. I've only tried it at home on my Wifi but the PQ and the iOS app is excellent on my iPad.

Ahhh. My dumb. I rarely use wifi, though my phone can use it.

I've never played with it, but must do that. Thanks.

I swear McDoanlds used BT OpenReach (or BT whathaveya) the one time I used WiFi in there. Maybe more than one internet supplier.
