They should send in the SEALS to transport him, and hope they are feeling trigger happy as usual...

Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
While most people welcome, and in some cases are trumpeting, the arrest and detention of Mladic it is important to note the fact that he was apprehended, and that he may well be tried, is due in no small part to the Human rights Act and the ECHR.
As such statements such as "Yes l agree with you that they should get the same treatment as they dished out to their victims" or "he should be made to suffer by having no contact with Anyone except the person who brings his food" are emotive, juvenile, baseless and indeed contrary to the very principles which might yet bring him to justice for the obscenities with which he is charged. People would do well to contemplate those facts the next time they switch into [Daily mail] rant mode [/Daily Mail] in an (ill informed) attempt to attack the existence and exercising of Human Rights. All things considered Mladic was an altar boy by comparison to Bernard Munyagishari who was also recently apprehended as a result of ongoing investigations brought about - again in no small part - by people and organisations who believe in the exercising of Human Rights. That said - and political opportunist scepticism aside - Rwanda is not lobbying to join the EU any time soon. |

Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
I see that this ******* is now trying to play the illness card as a get out of jail free card, realistically **** like this should be put in jail and the key thrown away and his meals pushed under the door to ensure no contact with humanity.
I advocate the same threatment for all war criminals and terrorists when caught as death is to good for them and thery should live out the rest of their lives without any human contact. |

What his victims stand to get is justice (proper justice) and not some rabid vigilante "justice" which would reduce the perpetrators to the same level. They stand to get proper justice due, in no small part, to an Act which some people think should be abolished / done away with. "The average person on the street" would perhaps like to consider this - what is a better outcome for the victims, that he spends his life free and on the run living in relative squalor or that he is brought to justice? Look beyond the obvious. ---------- Post added at 07:19 ---------- Previous post was at 07:17 ---------- Quote:

I am not out to impress as I believe that if you value life so low you should have no contact with another human being for the rest of your natural life and this applies to all the nice terrorists of whatever nationality. |
Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
To use a similar analogy to your hanging analogy would you argue for the rights of women not to be stoned to death or circumcised or would you just say "Ah well"?
What makes you think that people like him want or need human contact at even the most basic level and that depriving them of any such contact would be considered by him as some sort of "punishment"? |
Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
This is politics nothing more details to no doubt emerge later probably something to do with serbia wanting in on the EU gravy train. This **** shouldn't even be alive to be arrested and wouldn't be were it not for politics.

You also stated Quote:
Yes I would, on several points, not least of which is the fact that back here in "real world" hanging this chap is not an option available to the Hague, neither is it something most civilized democratrized countries use as a punishment. You've got the indignant fury goggles on again Masque - and they betray you - hence my question on your thoughts on other forms of summary justice / ritual scarring meted out by other less than democratic states. Sadly you can't even see the analogy. I'd be quite prepared to spend some time alone with a mirror if you'd be prepared to spend an equal amount of time brushing up on common sense and what constitutes the actual forms of punishment available to the Hague instead of reverting to the usual fantasy "I think [Daily mail] rant [/Daily Mail]". |

I find it strange that you always want to be different from everyone else regardless of the many different and varied views posted in the threads you visit you can never agree with anyone, possibly you have a few different personas that can never agree even with each other, but hey ho what does it really matter. |
Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
The one who has different personas that springs to mine is the character Twoface/Harvey Dent from the Batman films.

We are entitled to disagree, it's what forms the core of discussion / debate. You, however, seem unprepared and unwilling to debate when someone exposes the realities / frailties viz a viz your stated opinion - that said it is entirely your right to do so and I respect that. I don't "always want" to be different from everyone else - I enjoy discussion and debate. That said I think you'll find I do agree with many people on this forum - on matters where there is common ground. The difference is that when I do I don't always feel the need to resort to gang mentality to post in public about the fact. If you find my opinions to be challenging on matters dear to you then feel free to debate the merits of your position. I'm sorry if my ability to hold an opinion other than yours or what you consider to be the conventional norm or sensible causes you difficulty but, unfortunately, that is real life and the world would be a very, very boring place if we adopted your "They're all the same" attitude. |

As stated earlier, clearly your powers of comprehension, both written and cognitive, are disjointed. Even when a concise, and indeed courteous, explanation has been afforded to you you still cannot grasp basic english or see the patently obvious flaws in your supposed "logic". I'm not sure at all how you can assert that I have changed tack during the course of this thread, though I suspect it's probably down to another failure on your part to understand something correctly - like your earlier lie that I "can never agree with anyone". Perhaps you'd like to share the particular instance with me where you think I have changed tack in this discussion and I can clear the issue up for you? Everyone here can see which of us is having difficuly in answering questions or refuting ill founded assertions and clearly it isn't me. Ironic as it may seem - on the matter of having difficulties in giving answers you might want to avail of your own advice earlier and spend some time looking in a mirror. If you'd like to have a discussion on the merits, or otherwise, of your proposed "justice" for Mladic then I'm more than happy to engage you but if you are intent on continuing to make a fool of yourself by resolutely avoiding the questions posed to you in relation to same then I'm afraid I'm not interested. |

Gentlemen, please debate the topic at hand and avoid veiled digs at each other personalities.

This would be how I would treat anyone capable of crimes against humanity and I would also treat all convicted IRA prisoners or any members of any other terrorist organisation that have killed innocent people as we cannot hang them either. If you or anyone on this forum cannot accept that then all I can say is tough and who really cares about this being grammatically correct apart from someone who is being deliberately obtuse, if you dislike what other people have to say then do not read or even comment on their posts. |
Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
War criminals and terrorists should be locked up in solitary confinement. They are nothing more than cowards and murderess and have no place in a civilised society.
On this forum people have said they are for or against the death sentence that's fine and is there choice. When people have then posted lets lock them up and throw away the key there have been those that say you cannot do that. There has in the past been those that say you cannot put them in solitary confinement as a punishment. So what do we do with those found guilty of the worst crimes against humanity if there are those who would have us do nothing in case it breaks the many rules used as a get out of jail card. |

I know that Sirius has similar views to myself about these types of people and if we post our thoughts about how these people should be treated then so be it as that is our choice and made with our own free will after reading about these crimes and also seeing the images on our television screens. We are not in a totalitarian state and therefore are able to air our views on forums such as this one without any real issues apart from people who change their views with the wind in order to provoke an argument. |

Nobody has suggested that where someone is found guilty of war crimes that they shouldn't be punished - that is a given. I was merely pointing out - as you have now changed tack and acknowledged - that certain punishments which might be your and others preferred outcome in the event that he is convicted are not an option in the real world. I invite you again to highlight where I have swopped and changed my view in this thread or on this subject. That aside I'll read and comment on posts where I see fit thank you. ---------- Post added at 08:40 ---------- Previous post was at 08:34 ---------- Quote:
Nobody, and certainly not I, has said that nothing should be done to people found guilty of such crimes. |
Re: Ratko Mladic war criminal.
I'm with Mr Angry on this one.We cannot treat Ratko Mladic as he treated others because then we would be no better than him and his ilk.
International courts HAVE to be more than mere vigilantes and the most supreme court of Human rights has to have much higher ethics than any other because we are NOT a completely lawless world where the law of the old wild west rules should have sway. |

actually this man is considered a hero to many of his country men ,so you must accept that not every one shares your views . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratko_Mladi%C4%87 Opinion polls According to the March 2009 poll of the NGO Strategic Marketing for the television station B92, 14.29% of Serbia's citizens would reveal information that would lead to his arrest in exchange for €1 million, 20.57% do not have a determined attitude, and 65.14% would not divulge information for one million Euros (the poll was conducted when the United States embassy issued a reward of 1.3 million Euros for any information on Ratko Mladić).[33] However, it has been noted that the formulation of the question may have been a problem, as the polling samples which opted "No" included also those who would immediately report Mladić without payment, believing that payment in this case is immoral. Although preceding reports indicated that 47% supported the extradition, it is now apparent that most of the population is against it.[34] According to a poll conducted by the National Committee for Cooperation with the ICTY, 78 percent of those polled would not report Mladić to the authorities, 34 percent said they would approve of Mladić's arrest, while 40 percent believe he is a hero.[35] |
