Good that the providers of dodgy cable receiving kit get caught.

But how much did it cost for everyone to work out that "benefit" sum and then deal withit in court for the sake of a nominal £1. What a waste of resources. The moment it was known he was bankrupt they should all have given up and moved on.

The real question has to be why a prolific offender, with a "string of convictions" effectively just gets a slap on thw wrists of 18 months probation and a jolly time in a classroom attending a "thinking course" (what is that - a way to dream up your net criminal enterprise so you don't get caught).

That's my point, If he is bankrupt then make him pay it back by doing porridge. You can bet this thieving ******* will already have setup a new business and be making more money selling CS boxes. Just keep an eye on the other forums for more info ;)

They should have made him work for free digging up the roads till he had payed off what he defrauded them out of. So they would be able to lay new cabling, But he would have been able to turn that in to a scam

If ever there was a case to prove how lame the British justice system is, this is it. What a complete joke.

Our prisons are full, yet so many low lifes are let off.
Shows what a corrupt society we live in.
Bring back hanging, especially for burglars.
I've received a number of bogus e-mails trying to get my details.
Catch them, hang them.

He didnt cheat them of 1.25m - very few of those who had the cards would have paid for the service, they would simply have gone without. £1 is a bit of a joke tho. He wont be bankrupt forever.

Ok I know of the possible damage to the network these modded VM boxes can do but its hardly the crime of the century is it? Ok the £1 is a joke also and I think as I said CS would have been a better sentence than a suspended jail term

But the fact is they didn't go without. They purchased a dodgy smart card with the express intention of defrauding VM out of money by availing of a service without paying for it.

It has not been cracked, This is a way round the new encryption and they are traceable through what they are doing and this is why they are getting caught more now:confused:

I think that this is correct and maybe one of the VM staff members can sure this claim up:confused:

I think these convictions relate to pre Nagra 3 days. I think the only dishonest way now is card sharing which, as you rightly say, is easier to trace. It's also riskier for the thieves to fork out their dodgey cash as servers can be pulled down at anytime. :D

Hail Nagra 3

And maybe if ferraris weren't so expensive there wouldn't be so many people driving skodas.

Companies are entitled to decide what product to sell and how much to sell it for. Customers are entitled to decide whether they want it and whether they can afford it. They are not entitled to steal it if they disagree with the price.

Scary 28-05-2011 08:42

Re: Another One Caught

i am not saying there entitled to do this in anyway, and yes companies are entitled to charge what they want for a product but if they rip people off then this sort of thing happends, plus people will always want what they cant afford so if they get a chance to get it for a cheaper price they will go for it

Chris 28-05-2011 08:50

Re: Another One Caught

Dont worry, I'm sure you weren't trying to justify theft. It's just that I've seen the observation "if only it weren't so expensive..." so many times, and I can't think of any other conclusion to be drawn from it. In other words, I think the point is just a little bit moot ... ;)
