|

For TiVo 500 it's £49.95 and £40 install
|

A 1GB disk would only allow you to record about 7 minutes of HD programming. |

Re: 500GB tivo
Is £50 the intro price for 500gb tivo? Will it go up like the 1TB drive did?
|
Re: 500GB tivo
No the 500gb will not go up in price.
|
Re: 500GB tivo
Just rang to order the 500gb. I really should have read the small print £49.95 + installation LMFAO, you must be joking.
My V+ does the job - upscales very well, records what I want and has BBC iplayer. Virgin you can ram your boxes on these deals you swines, get a big warehouse. You'll need it. |

This is my choice and do not want to push my choice on anyone. I know that VM have a hash of the initial offerings of TiVo but what have they done now to make it a Hash? |
Re: 500GB tivo
Theres nothing wrong with my tivo which has been superb since l had it installed 3 weeks ago.
|
Re: 500GB tivo
I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these. I couldn't really justify the cost of the 1Tb and don't really keep recordings that long that I'd need that space but £50 for the mini TiVo and £40 for activation is pretty tempting.... now how to persuade my other half;)

The only way in the future that I would end up with TiVo is a change in policy where any replacement boxes would be TiVo only! I would love to know people's opinion's on this matter. |

Sorry cannot find the direct quote but Cindy Rose says it the next few years they want the entire TV base to be on TiVo, this would make comerical sense on two levels 1. No support require for legacy TV software solutions 2. Probable migration from mpeg2 to mpeg4 (think of how many ours of HD recordings your could get on you PVR then;)) VM keep telling us we don't own the boxes so they can do what they like to an extent. PS I am not angling for a free upgrade, I am just happy with the box and service that I have got and at present have no intension of paying any upgrade/installation fee! |

At £89.95, all inclusive of lifetime maintenance, the small TiVo is a snip. |
Re: 500GB tivo
Everbody to their own but l do not think it will be free for at least 2 years.

ok so im doing a u-turn. i took an abject view and considered the technology and warranty front instead of the upgrade fees.
TiVo won and its being installed week after next lol. 500 gb though im on a budget. |

Re: 500GB tivo
I have a V+ and a Standard Box and wonder what the options are with a 500gb Tivo.
Would it replace the V+ Box or could I replace the standard box with one. Are there extra charges with the 2nd option and would I then not have to pay the £5 Monthly charge I already pay. |
Re: 500GB tivo
You could choose to replace whichever box you wanted.
If you kept your V+ box then any appropriate fees for that box would apply along with the approrpriate TiVo fee |
Re: 500GB tivo
Thanks for that Ben as might help convince Mrs that having a 2nd recordable box upstairs would be great for her.
Cheers |

Can you still use a AV sender on the TiVo box ?
Need output with menus if possible. |

Re: 500GB tivo
You would pay an additional box fee of £6.50 as you would three boxes and the TiVo fee. You would also need to make sure you made it clear that's what you wanted doing at order, otherwise it wouldn't happen

Freeview HD recorders may initially be expensive, but they all have two tuners, with one of them (Digistream) allowing you record 2 and watch live tv at the same time. OK - you can argue that there isn't as much choice with regards to channels, but to be honest, the amount of American TV series that get canned after only one or two seasons I'm starting to wonder whats the point with the extra channels anyway! I'm still on the sidelines as what to do with regards to my Virgin TV. Must say though, I'm still very happy with both the broadband and telephone service. |

Weres the big advertising push for TIVO , I've not seen one billboard , leaflet , Tv advert yet ?

That's not my experience. Although I would like some changes, if they changed nothing, I'd still be happy with Tivo. I know people want the Red button, so I accept that, even though it's not an issue for me as I rarely use it and can get it from the Freeview on the TV if needed. |
Re: 500GB tivo
One of the fun things about Tivo, like the TVDrive/V+ when they first came out, is it gives us TV Gadget nerds something to chat about on the forums.
If they came out perfect, there would be nothing for us to talk about. We would have to watch the TV. I am very happy with my Tivo, and actually enjoy the anticipation of upgrades and fixes. |
Re: 500GB tivo
Do you have to ring the 0845 number to order as an existing customer seems a money maker if so as no alternative on saynoto0870
