No On Demand with TiVO in any form.

2 Attachment(s)
I had my Tivo fitted on Wednesday. Initially After the engineer taking nearly two hours to fit the system with a couple of problems, I thought everything was working OK.

It was only later when I was having a play that I realized that On Demand in any form was not working. I also have no Apps showing in the Apps/Game window, and You Tube does not work at all.

I contacted Virginmedia on Thursay Morning and they had me do the force network connection and reboot the system. Which did not improve anything. They told me that they where putting the problem to the IT team ? I have also put a message on the VM Tivo forum and one of the VM moderators said they have passed it on to a Developer ?. I am still waiting to hear from VM
Has anyone else had or is having this problem.
I will post a couple of images showing the screens I am getting.

Sorry to hear about your problem - I had TiVo installed Thursday morning, and both the Apps/Games and On Demand are working.

Hope it gets resolved for you very soon.

This error (code 6187) is happening in a few areas. We're still investigating why it happens. Sometimes a reboot does fix it temporarily, so they gave you good advice on the phone.

Could I ask for the first half of your postcode? (PM me if you want). It's useful to know which regions are affected.

Hi Spiderplant,

I have sent you a PM, thank you. I would not feel agravated if I was getting some feedback from VM. Right now I just feel it is being pushed around different teams :)

I dont know if this has an bearing on the problem, but while the engineer was fitting the TiVo box, he had a problem getting a network address and also something to do with no credit going onto the smart Card. He ended up getting another TiVo box and he still could not get the network address or credit on the card, so he changed the card for another one. While he was waiting for things to happen he went to fit the V+ box upstairs so I did not see if those problems got sorted out.

New tech, be patient, if they are aware vm will address it

Re: No On Demand with TiVO in any form.

I just thought I would post an update about my TiVo problems.
Since VM had not got back to me I contacted them myself. Basically I was told that there is a National outage, which in my mind would mean everyone is effected, but no it just affects some TiVo customers.

To make matters worse they cannot give me any time frame for these problems to be fixed.

So I cannot use BBC i Player, I cannot use Catchup TV, I cannot use You Tube, and I cannot use any of the On Demands options.
I have been with VM in one form or another since the late 90s and always been reasonably happy with there service

but I think thats changing this week. I feel I have been very patient. Tomorrow it will be 1 week since my TiVo was fitted and I have not had any of these services since then.
Not sure what more I can say. Besides saying I am a bit of a unhappy VM customer right now !!!
Thanks for allowing me to rant.:)

Why not exercise your 7 day right to cancel, get a V+ back and reorder when things have settled down ?

Sorry to here your tale of woe. I hope things are sorted for you sooner rather than latter. This is the problem with new tech, it does not matter who makes it, there are always teething problems.

Not really the way I want to go. I believe when it is working correctly it will be a great system. Just needed to do some venting :D

One thing VM could do to keep customers happy is to keep them informed rather than making us chase after them.

Hi KathG have you tried emailing neil.berkett@virginmedia.co.uk to see if they are able to try and get this sorted for you ?

Thanks....... I am sure it will get sorted eventually. I just have to make sure that all members of the family make sure they record everything they want to watch, after all we do have plenty of room now.:erm:;)

Hi Friely

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem. Are you getting the same Error code, that shows in the image I posted in this thread.
VM at last contacted me today to apoligize and go through a few things with me.
It seems this error 6187, is the equivalant that would show on a V+ box which he said normally means something wrong with the box. But everything is showing that the box is ok. From what VM said this problem is effecting more than us. They do seem a bit baffled by this problem.

I asked for them to keep me informed, and hope that it will not take too much longer to get fixed.
I would be grateful if you would give us an update if you hear anything, and i will do the same.

Regards
Kath

Hi Weemac
The VM guy who phoned me today said that there was someone in Edinburgh with the same problem. Have you just had the TiVo fitted ? It is a week today since I had my TiVo installed, and the problems have been there since day 1.

This now has to be passed on to his boss because the installers can't put boxes in if they will not work

lets hope this get's it sorted now

Thanks Friely, for the update. I dont want to wish this problem on other customers, but in a way knowing we are not alone with this error, makes me hope they will get down and get it fixed sooner rather than later.

I have just checked the VM status page and there are 2 faults showing for our area, OnDemand and Broadband. The odd thing with all this is that the V+ box upstairs, the On Demand works fine.

Regards
Kath

This morning I tweeted on twitter to @virginmedia how bad the service was so almost 20,000 followers of them would see!. I was asked to email them my account details.

I did a connect to virginmedia at 4pm and by 5pm all the apps appeared and on demand was working

Lets hope your box and everyone else's start working soon

I'm getting this 6187 error now (in AL1). Did anyone ever get to the bottom of it?

I had this error code two weeks ago. I left it for a few days to see if it would resolve itself. When it didn't I called CS and the chap I spoke to asked me to reset the box, which I had done before but did again anyway. He then sent some messages to the box which he said that replies he received showed that all should be ok. As it still wasn't he passed it on to another team saying that it should hopefully be resolved in 48 hours. And it was. Best thing to do is call them.
