This plus the increasing net contributions by the UK will almost entirely wipe out austerity savings from this year.

Interestingly I don't see any union backed marches about this or protesters like Laurie Penny and her UKUncut comrades complaining or occupying EU buildings.

The worst part is of course that we aren't being asked our opinion because Dave 'I'm a Liberal Conservative, honest I'm a Conservative. No really, I'm not Tony Blair in diguise.' Cameron loves the EU and thinks his opinion overrules his electorate and is scared of letting us vote as he knows very well he won't get the result he wants.

Well he has said that 100% guaranteed he will veto any rise next year...

Cheap at the price I say. What's wrong with you folks FGS??!! Just think, for a moment, where we'd be without the EU. For one thing we'd be awash with odd shaped fruit and where on earth would you find a one legged Romanian roofer when you needed one?..... :rolleyes: :D

The Iron Lady was the one who won us a reduction in our contributions - a reduction that Bliar hadn't the balls to defend and is therefore now smaller than it ought to be. I think we could do with a resurgence of Thatcherite Euroscepticism myself.

I think it's probably reasonable to say that we, the people, have Thatcherite Euroscepticism. The problem is the Liberal Democrats are so Pro-Europe that tomorrow the EU could demand we join the Euro and surrender our entire GDP to them and they'd probably agree. Add to this that David Cameron the 'Liberal Conservative' is of a similar mindset and has no regard whatsoever for the views of the public on this matter, he is on camera as saying he doesn't want a referendum as he thinks we're better off in Europe and can influence it more (dream on Dave) and the similarly Pro-Europe Labour party and you have pretty much the biggest cognitive disconnect between populace and ruling class of basically any issue.

As my above post mentioned it's absolutely fascinating. The EU costs us 11 figures a year in bureaucracy, net contributions, the appalling CAP and CFP, yet I don't see the unions marching on that issue, and anyone who criticises the EU is instantly labelled a right wing xenophobe and marginalised, especially by the Pro-European sections of the press.

This is the easiest thing in the world for any politician in any country right now and the EU should be told to take a long walk off a short cliff it's ridiculous at this time of austerity for so many EU nations that they want an increase. As i have said many times i feel we should be part of a free trade group within europe and play a part in security and defence but should not be a part of a wider political union.

I struggle to see tangible benefits we get from being a member of the EU and the cost of it to each and everyone one of us is extremely high for whatever benefit if any we get from being in.
