Tivo advice please
I have got Tivo booked for next wednesday but i am so confused by the whole thing:)
I know the EPG is better but what other things can it do? I have looked at Virgins website but it does not really tell me much. Also what things can i connect to it as i have my sound going into my home cinema kit via optical input so does it have that input on it? |
Re: Tivo advice please
Surely you should find this out before ordering?

Re: Tivo advice please
There's an optical out that will feed into your AV amp and give 5.1 audio.

Re: Tivo advice please
I don't know where I got them off the top of my head, but I pulled two different pdf files from the internet (may have been mediaboys blog) with the full TiVo manuals - one the manual and one a quick start. they have a TON of info in them. If you do a google search you should find them, or perhaps someone here may know the links.

In the States, TiVo Premiere also offers third-party entertainment services from Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI), Netflix (NSDQ: NFLX), Pandora, Rhapsody, MusicChoice, Live365 and more. So could Virgin’s Brit TiVo offer equivalents like Lovefilm and Spotify? “We’re talking to everybody - all those that you named and more,” says Rose. “We’re very open to all of them. It’s just a question of doing the right deal, making sure our customers actually want it - power to the people; we’re a Virgin company. We’ve got an online forum we’re moderating to ask what they want.” |

Re: Tivo advice please
ok i got a question
i'm on vip 50 and got a v+ in main room and silver standard samsung box in my bedroom my intention is to get tivo installed in main room and v+ moved into bedroom to replace silver standard samsung box so my question is will both boxes have HD and premium HD channels? not a big issue if not cause it's a standard tv in bedroom (just want v+ in bedroom for recording function) |
Re: Tivo advice please
You will get the free HD channels on the second box, but not the Premium HD channels (you would have to pay another £7 to get these channels in HD on the second box). I think this is something imposed by SKY, as the £10 SKY HD fee is per box and not per account.

will the card in my silver standard samsung work in the v+? or does tivo require a new card anyway? so if i'm confusing, i'm not really tech saavy lol |
Re: Tivo advice please
The cards won't physically change. Your Tivo will come with a new card. They will just transfer the services from one card to another. Remember, cards are "tied up" to a particular box and can't be used in any other box.

so it's a case of phoning up and telling them to put HD premium on tivo and not v+ |
Re: Tivo advice please
I think they will do the transfer automatically, since they will see your Tivo box as the primary box. But I am guessing here, you can give them a call to confirm.
