Re: flashing traffic light
Traffic light? As in the data traffic light? Is that middle or bottom?
|
Re: flashing traffic light
weest i think he is on about the blue light at the top m8 that flash every so often.
|
Re: flashing traffic light
it is the top blue light.
|
Re: flashing traffic light
Apparently its supposed to be on solid from what Ive heard, mine flashes intermittently but connection is solid.
|
Re: flashing traffic light
The Top Blue light is the Traffic/Throughput light and will flash as per the receive and send lights on an Ambit 256.
The middle light is the Ready light which indicates the modem is online once lit solid. The bottom light is the wireless light which flashes whenever a wireless device accesses the internet via wifi and is green in 2.4ghz mode or blue in 5ghz mode. |

Re: flashing traffic light
The Top Blue light is continually flashing.
very annoying |
Re: flashing traffic light
It's a very bright LED that lights the whole room up when I'm working in a darkened room. Almost strobe-like. I had to turn the SHUB around to reduce the luminosity.
I wonder if it's bad for epileptics? |

black tape, bash bosh
|
Re: flashing traffic light
its all very well using black tape that don't solve the issue of why it is continually flashing.
when it should only flash when data is being sent or received. it even flashes continuous when pc not on and wireless switched off. |

Re: flashing traffic light
Blue light goes off at night and daytime when you dont want it to!!!
It flashes so u cant sleep, then goes off at day time when virgin media can not support the speed they advertise!!! Great business, NOT! Still waiting my call back to allow them to PICK UP THE HUB and HD boxes! NEXT MONTH MUST BE FREE!!! Wooooohoooo!!!! MOD EDIT: Please don't try to bypass the swear filter - Lew |

Re: flashing traffic light
I always switched off my superhub every nights when I went to bed.
|
Re: flashing traffic light
It doesn't bother me because
a) I don't have the modem in my bedroom b) as a backup plan, I close my eyes when I go to sleep, and this reduces my ability to see any flashing lights ;) |
Re: flashing traffic light
I have mine against the side of my monitor enclosure and a speaker in front of that and oddly enough I can no longer see the light.
|
Re: flashing traffic light
Rather a pointless thread. If all else fails put a paper bag over it!
Problem solved!:D |
Re: flashing traffic light
there is settings to change the lights which were found when SSH was enabled, but obviously we cant do that now

If you don't like the flashing light, how about doing what I do - put it out of sight or behind something, |
Re: flashing traffic light
If you need the Superhub on at night and it is in your bedroom then use this below.

but i also agree that the lights are too bright. It didnt bother me as the hub was downstairs, but if i looked down the stairs, the hub lit up the whole hall. As i said, there is options to change the lights in the hub, as was seen when SSH was allowed. the lights are for nothing apart from indicating whats on/off/locked, and if data is being transferred, they dont need to be so bright |

loads of constructive answers .
but not the one that tells me why it continually flashes now when it never used to . |

again, i dont know exactly what has caused it to start flashing, but really, it doesnt matter, and as has been mentioned, if its bothering you, put some black electrical tape over it. :) |

Re: flashing traffic light
It took me a while to work out why my blue light constantly flashed even when the PC was turned off as well as wireless, then i remembered about the 'thinkbroadband' monitor i had running, once disabled it stopped flashing.
|
Re: flashing traffic light
Isn't that installed on your PC?
|
Re: flashing traffic light
No it's on the website and you have to click disable on the website to stop it pinging your IP.

Re: flashing traffic light
So, in summary - this whole thread was because the OP had forgotten he had implemented something on a website that sent traffic to his modem, which made the top blue light flash?

Turned mine side on, and put a piece of black electricians tape over the blue network led, it was driving me mad, lit up the room at night as if I had a Panda car parked in the drive :erm: Now I'm just providing an illuminated Virgin Logo to all and sundry, clever these VM folk, free advertising in all home's with a superhub, got to hand it to the publicity department "genius" |
Re: flashing traffic light
Do you have think broadband monitor running?
if not and its just occasionally then is jus the hub synching with the cmts (bit router where all the modems connect to) If its constantly flashing and not down to any of those check your router log to see if there is errors in the log :) ---------- Post added at 11:52 ---------- Previous post was at 11:51 ---------- [/COLOR] Quote:
