Yes the tech guy is coming back on thursday to adjustment power level as they say my power level on upstream is too high. And on downstream too.

How come you have managed to post a 10Mb config instead of a 100Mb one.

Here is my 30Mb to compare it with Max Traffic Rate 33330000 bps.:D

Not right on here with superhub. The techguy never checked power level, all he do is check ensure I got the superhub and he went back to green box to activated 100 meg and he went back and forward to adjustment at the green box. He never touch superhub or cable from outside of my house to the superhub inside.

I ask him "Are the power level need to be checking out?" he say "no need, it the same as 30 meg".

If you are running wireless then that's an acceptable ping, if that is connected by Ethernet then I would be more concerned.

Edit - Wait a minute... you had 100Mb installed today and the downgraded on the same day ??? Is your fluctuating speed not more down to your wireless connection or the speedtest site?

How many activation charges would he have paid?
I think he's going to get a few awards:

- World Record for change in broadband speed over a period of 3 months
- VM's number one profitable customer

- World Record for change in broadband speed over a period of 3 months
- VM's number one profitable customer

They refund me activation & installation charge £70 credit back into my account and also refund me partial service charge because of same day upgrade & went back downgrade again after complaints of virgin tech guy not doing their job properly and never check any power level signals.

I had test it via microsoft technet 3.2gb windows 7 iso and speed was all over the place via ethernet cable with a transfer rate of 1.19Mb/s to 4.78Mb/s never get anywhere near 5Mb/s or 10Mb/s.

After downgrade back to 30Meg, it download transfer rate steady and solid at 3.9Mb/s all times.

It appear very poor indeed for 100Meg as I don't know if it was to do with superhub cannot cope with 100Meg or something to do with incorrect power level signals or could be secret hidden traffic shaping.

100Meg isn't worth it to be honest, waste of £45 a month for silly low speed!

Ignitionnet 16-03-2011 07:18

Re: Finally arrives here !

Pretty incompetent on VM's part. After all the modifications and up and downgrades on your account should have actually held you to the contract for a change.

Everything is fine, as speeds go up so transfers get more inconsistent. Being realistic with expectations is very wise.

Except they probably legally can't

DSR and Right to Cancel and all that

Plus their own 28 MBG policy

qasdfdsaq 16-03-2011 08:53

Re: Finally arrives here !

The DSR right to cancel doesn't cover services that have already begun being provided, i.e. he loses his right to cancel as soon as it's turned on. That just leaves VM's own 28-day MBG, which could be wrangled out of as he's upgrading an existing service, not taking a new one.

If it's a new contract (which 100Mbit) is, then that's not true. The DSR would apply

ip adresses are dynamic, they change evey time you connect.

telford was on 30, then 100, then 30, now 100 again. every time he has changed, his modem will have re-established a connection, and a new ip address given

No, they are sticky. They change either whenever a customer changes CPE MAC address, changes DHCP scope via a resegmentation or config change, when DHCP server is reloaded or otherwise its table cleared, or a client is offline for long enough for their old lease to be taken by another subscriber.

He'll have the same IP address on 30Mbps as 100Mbps.

Straight to the point here, I don't believe a word your saying.

Sounds like it's not relevant, but what I'm really trying to do is get evidence - lots of you in this thread seem sure the OP is some sort of troll, wind-up merchant or general time-waster. I want to see what we can establish for certain rather than by innuendo or resorting to LOLcat-style interweb cartoons. ;)

Hmmmm I smell something and it ain't pretty.

Is it actually possible to get 100 then downgrade to 30 the next day and then back to 100 a couple of hours later? Do our systems really work that fast and surely he would be tied to a contract by now if anything he says is actually true?

You could certainly downgrade from 100Mbit to 30Mbit, but as far as I'm aware going back up again is an install tech appointment only

and im pretty sure you cant make a tech appointment for the same day, a couple of hours later

Re: Finally arrives here !

Correct Ben, 100Mb shouldn't be a tier change but a manned install only during this rollout phase. Although theres nothing to stop a 100Mb tier change if the customer has the correct equipment, although if the customer had issues and downgraded to 30 then why would CS/CR change back to 100Mb without a tech roll?

And how did an engineer fix it so quickly? Surely a callout would be 24-48 hours minimum?

Trollz be lurkin here.... screenshots of a mates connection that he is flashing as his own? Or maybe he has 100Mb but just wants to chat about it? Either way, we had screenshots of speed tests of 100Mb but no evidence of the so called fluctuating speed...

:)

Even if you only just downgraded from 100 the day before?

I suppose it might be technically possible with some system fiddling, but whoever did it would probably get spoken to.

Personally I can't be bothered finding out if it is or not.

The one off charges and layout seem to be in the right place though

EDIT: However, unless that was taken after the service reversal, there would be some part month charges for the 100Mbit upgrade

EDIT 2: Why does it say 'You are new here aren't you - We haven't billed you for anything yet' if he's been with Virgin for a while

Definately something fishy going on

its definitley been in photoshop at some point or another, I cant think of another software that you can set brush opacity on, you can see where he has scribbled over *his* details that he has gone over it a couple of times with a semi opaque brush, i cant see any of it being real to be honest. telfordcable business as usual

Had a look at the bill, zoomed in, looks legit to me, no modding at all anywhere apart from the obvious.

Outstanding balance, no wonder lol

Read this thread a couple of times from the start, found it weird "chucking in the rubbish 100mb, all over the place bit" and the extra 0 for speed but on the whole not really much evidence of talking rubbish.

(cheers for the bullseye bro)

Because i don't think there is anything in the terms and conditions for the forum that's says if you exaggerate the truth by a light year you get removed :)

If you think that's iffy, take a look back at some of Telfords posting history, it takes "iffy" to a whole new level

Yup! No idea when it was introduced here, but I remember my Nan having the good old Telewest with the green numbers at the top right on TV.

Look folk, it real as my ebilling is in credit of -£103.00 as I owe virgin media zero bill this month and the activation fee is free of charge upgrade to 100Meg from 30Meg. No charge as they credit me £30.00 for activation fee. 100 Meg no problem here so far! Got 4ms ping and 0ms jitter!

So explain why the Billing Overview image you posted specifically says Virgin haven't billed the account yet, when you have had broadband for ages, have just said you have had previous bills, and that 100Mbit was an upgrade to an existing service

It will happen when you are in big credit ahead and no bill this month! Why don't you put £103 credit in and you will find out next month will be no billing and saying aren't you new to virgin yet on your account ?
